Stayed here for just one very brief night (2200-0830) due to an interview in the area. Hotel is popular and mainly set up for travellers with poor/no sight and caters for these clients well. Due to this there are guide dogs in the hotel. Not a problem at all to me, but some may not like. My room was a... More

This is a large hotel situated up a hill from the town centre, close to a beach, with an indoor swimming pool. There is a large car park away from the road with nice gardens surrounding the building, with a path through the grounds down to the beach. This hotel is primarily geared up for the partially sighted clients, who... More

I wasn't sure what to expect when I checked into this hotel, but I was working to a very tight budget and was looking for accommodation in Teignmouth that had it's own off-road parking (a rarity). The Cliffden has plenty of parking and is set in lovely grounds within easy walking distance of the town centre. From the moment you... More

My husband and I stayed at the Cliffden for 2 nights on the half board basis through late rooms which was excellent value for money. Initially we had reservations due to some unfavourable postings on here. My husband rang the hotel a few days in advance to discuss this as we were thinking of cancelling our booking and going elsewhere.... More

I reviewed The Cliffden earlier this year. We were so impressed we booked to stay there again. We weren't disappointed, not that I had any doubt that I would be. The Staff greeted us like family and like royalty on the occasion of my wife's birthday. The large room was spotlessly clean as was the rest of the hotel. The... More

abosolute crap hotel is very dated and is a shame , as it is close to sea and has good gardens . i dont want to be rude or offensive to the blind but i suspect that this is why the hotel has not been decorated for years and the sevice is rubbish because they cant see the decor and... More

Came for a two night stay and checked out after one. Our double bed was incredibly uncomfortable and the room was boiling hot all night, yet the radiators were off. Our room had a window over the bath, which meant that the world had a full view of everything north of your belly button when showering. Breakfast wasn't up to... More

A real mixed bag. Ignored for on arrival by a receptionist who couldn't be bothered to look up from her filing but very friendly and helpful staff on checking out. The room was pretty good. Reasonable size, sea view and basic facilities. Not outstanding but perfectly acceptable. We had a full board deal but the dining room closed at 8pm!... More

I was so disappointed with my stay I felt it was important to share our experience with other potential visitors. Our twin room was grotty, tired, noisey and had lingering smells from the kitchen nearby. The bed was so old I could feel the springs coming through the matress, the duvet and pillows were thin and extremely worn and the... More
