The place is huge and beautiful. If u like quiet and surrounded by trees, u should visit here.Last minute we got a executive suite . It was large, with a fireplace and old architecture nearly 100 years old, so I loved its rustic and earthiness. Breakfast was ok, it was very basic, so we had our lunch and dinner outside. We came to know the rooms have been recently renovated and we enjoyed the stay. Huge campus.U could easily spend one day relaxing and strolling around it. It slso has a hotel called Sonali , the food was quiet good over here. Loved the huge campus withbirds chirping. The Rajbhavan is in the campus.

A huge property completely let down by lethargic government policies I guess. This a classic example that why government must not focus on the areas that they are not expert into. They want money but zero in providing the services and a pleasant staying experience!! Coming back to our trip -- Stay Period - 16 Aug to 18 Aug Room - We accomodated ourseoves in non-ac family rooms (booked family rooms being group of 17). The rooms were extremely shabby. Door's wood eaten out, succumbed to the Mahabaleshwar climate. But climate is not to be blamed here but the zero maintenance and negligence to provide well equipped property by mtdc. The room walls were drenched with seepage. Bathroom was the scariest place of the room. The glass in window is broken and they find the best way to fix via covering it with newspaper! What about privacy and safety of individual taking shower inside the bathroom? Don't get surprised seeing all corners of bathroom covered with cobwebs. They don't bother to ensure that property is cleaned before guest walks in. Toilet shower spray was not working. Again, they do not check whether all the fixtures are properly functional or not. Room tv was not working and person came to fix says - "call me whenever you want to switch it on, I will do it." (However, they changed the tv next day when I walked in to reception and complained there). On 2nd morning, the water stopped in all family rooms. They switched on water supply to fill in overhead tanks but then the water coming from taps was so dirty for next 20 minutes, giving another proof that may they would have cleaned the overhead water tanks - may be - atleast a decade ago?? Mattress and pillow were covered with algae and smelling hell bad! Blankets were in worn out condition with holes in it. Restaurant - It's less like restaurant but more like a lodge. Nothing special to enjoy food! Breakfast is just forgettable. They serve couple of items alongwith tea/coffee. If you want milk, they will charge! Taste is okayish. We had ordered stuffed Brinjal in dinner one day and that was completely undercooked, with Brinjal totally raw. However, they deducted this from the bill on complaint. Ambience and surrounding - Just wonderful. Amazing locality and place. Safety - We were concerned as there are outsiders roaming inside property - e.g. massage person visiting rooms in the morning and asking that do you need full body massage? A ladies chappal seller roaming around during the daytime. Stray dogs across the property. Check-in /Check-out - Fast. Quick. No wait. Smooth. Resort staff - Over-all cooperative and trying to do their best but with finger count people on a large property will turn out to be the experience and maintenance that is mentioned above. And then there is casual approach by everyone instead of the customer centricity and hospitality mindset. We have excluded MTDC from our list for any of our future visits! We do not want a let down experience even after shelling out reasonable amount of money.

MTDC Resort Mahabaleshwar is a beautiful and absolutely peaceful property located in a serene and natural environment. It is a very old property that reminds me of the british colonial architecture. Stay there if you are a nature lover and not a "luxury seeker" because you wouldn't find any luxuries there. Food is delicious, and staff is a group of very simple but extremely warm and courtious people who will mesmerize you with their helpful nature. The only two things you will desperately miss are Mobile Network (there is absolutely no connectivity) and WiFi, which I actually considered as a blessing for me.

This is probably the best resort to stay in Mahabaleshwar. It has vintage construction, with some rooms constructed in the 19th century. We stayed in Writer's suite, which is a luxury room. it has a living room, a bedroom, a reading room, changing room and bathroom. Changing room has a closet and a mini refrigerator. The resort restaurant is nice and provides tasty food at reasonable prices. Room service is provided, but takes time. Buffet breakfast is free, but has limited items like Idli, Poha, Brad-Butter and Tea-Coffee. Overall, this place offers value for money. Enclosing some photos of Writer's suite.

As is the case with most governmental facilities, MTDC resort has an ideal location that is close to everything. It is a very good facility and meets all the requirements for good accommodation. 1) Location - This is located in the same campus as the Rajbhavan in Mahabaleshwar so is in a very safe neighborhood. It is 5 minutes from Sunset Point and 15 minutes from the Main Market. It is overall a great location to stay. 2) Accommodation - Rooms are nice and have recently been renovated. The space is generous. We stayed in Cottage AC rooms which are few but worth the extra money. What we loved was that the car is parked right on your room door. 3) Food - There is a canteen which provides basic food - thalis in general. While we would recommend going down to the Main Market area where there are much better options available, the canteen can cover your emergent requirements. 4) Service and Hospitality - We were amazed by the courtesy extended by government employees. Everyone was welcoming and helpful. 5) Others - There are a lot of monkeys around who would come up to the balconies. You may want to keep your doors and balconies closed and be cautious when in open areas.

We stayed between 26-28 Sep'22 and incidentally 27th Sep was World Tourism Day :). They felicitated us and ensured that our stay was comfortable. Although monkeys and other animals were there but the level of hospitality and value for money was far ahead from that. Thank you.

The overall stay with respect to the rooms, upkeep and cleanliness was good. No complaints there. However the overall staff response in general is poor. You will have to keep reminding them for whatever you want. And chances are they will still mess up the orders and chores. The Restaurant, their staff and the service is the worst. Food is strictly average (complimentary breakfast is crap) and the restaurant staff is very unprofessional, impolite and lazy. They should be given a course on how to handle and talk to customers and behave with manners. If you’re planning your stay here, you will mostly be satisfied only if you dine outside and don’t depend on the staff for anything.

Booked an Executive Suite for 3 adults and 2 children. the reception staff was very courteous. The suite was accessible from outside main gate of the resort. Sufficiently big room with beautiful bathroom fittings. We got extra bed. Room service was quick . I liked masala tea the most. Since it was monsoon time, there were clouds, mist all the time, with rains intermittent. We did nt go outside resort during our stay. Overall Wow experience... so close to nature..
