Mark was at hand to welcome us and orient us to the little paradise.
We loved our stay here during our honeymoon. Breathtaking ocean view, dancing on the beach with the village little boys and the rhythmic waves were an excellent lullaby by night.
Breakfast was heavenly each morning. Cocktails were to die for.
It wasn't kite season but we...

Lovely location, pleasant and efficient staff, and excellent chef. Needs new website, as existing site makes it look like concrete bunkers, which not at all the case! The rooms are in fact really nice. This is a low-key, chill-out sort of place, based on simple comfort and relaxation (e.g. no TVs). Lots of colobus monkeys and village children complete the...

Much has been said and much can be repeated (ambiance of the place is lovely, the staff is very friendly and helpful, the ocean is beautiful, the food is decent enough and fairly priced, the rooms are simple but clean, etc.). Instead I would like to give one consideration: Red Monkey Lodge takes pride in the fact that it is...

I was there over end of february 2012 . solo traveler. first time in Zanzibar. i had a reservation.
Great Location, by the small forest, face to the laggoon and a Great Sandbank. The lodge is much appreciated in Jambiani's Village. Great interaction with the Staff and the locals .
Staff really help me finding out what to explore around,...

The Red Monkey was a relaxed and wonderful little lodge with a perfect beach that is open to the public so it has a really nice feel with children playing football and the fisherman bringing in their daily catch. It is not overly crowded and the most amazing part are the tides that go out daily and allow you to...

I stayed at the red monkey lodge only for two nights, but i would definitively like to come back with a little bit of time.
In this corner of paradise you can completely unwind from the hectic western lifestyle. I was happy to see real local life happening around the lodge like the village children playing and the football team...

The Red Monkey Lodge advertises as a chill, laid-back, no frills place on the beach. The room was nice enough, with charming touches like the little footbath on the stoop and hibiscous flowers left by the cleaning staff, but I found the constant high-pitched screech of the generator and water pump outside our window rather distracting.
The manager was quite...

hi,
i am happy that you where happy with the staff and acknowledged their efforts to make your stay pleasant.
To respond to your points of criticism:
1) we can understand that you where disturbed by the sound of the generator, but on the other hand please understand that it is a luxury to provide electricity when there are power...

I stayed at Red Monkey for two nights in December and I found it to be absolutely lovely. Good value for money, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the food is good (if a little over priced, but made with great care and very tasty), the setting is sublime and far from the crazy crowds of Kendwa, the hosts are...

I stayed at the Red Monkey Lodge in February for a week. An excellent time! Everybody of the staff was friendly and helpfull. They organized snorkeling-equipment, a short-term dicided trip to the Juzani-Forrest. On my brothers birthday we had a special dinner and a birthday-cake, great. Every day different dishes for dinner, fresh, fine food. I enjoyed it very much....
