We selected the Byre based on it's picture alone and had no reason to regret our choice. We arrived, by bicycle, on a miserable Sunday afternoon, soaked through having slogged through the leading edge of hurricane Katia, to be told that the local restaurant (that's local as defined by soggy and knackered cyclists) had inexplicably decided to close on Sunday... We stayed in The Byre for one night during our trip around Scotland. It's a bit off the main track but this makes a stay in Skye special and always worth a few extra miles. We arrived early in the morning to confirm the address and were greeted by guests leaving. We stayed here three years ago on our honeymoon and loved it so much we came back, this time wtih a 11 week old baby! The accommodation is very cosy with seats overlooking the bay at glendale (when we were there the sunsets were fantastic too!). We arrived to the Byre after a 3 hour drive from Inverness to find that our reservation was not booked correctly. They said we had the next two nights not the night we were there. We showed them our printed conformation that we got from them but they said they didn't have it. Odd and annoying. More

We loved staying here, all our needs were catered for and the setting is quaint and quite unique. Di and Julian were great hosts. More

It was 5.30 pm and we were driving through the villages of Colbost and Glendale and everywhere we looked the signs said 'No Vacancies'. So It was a lucky find when we stumbled across the welcoming 'Vacancies' sign of The Byre. We couldn't believe it when Julian, the owner, showed us into the B&B end of their old Crofters cottage.... A lovely location with lots of character and Di and Julian were very helpful. If we stay on Skye again, it will be here. More
