We were warmly welcomed by Joan & Catherine Nugent upon arriving at the front door. This grand home has been with their family for many many years. We received a large room plus ensuite on the upper most level which was almost an attic. The standard of accommodation was of a very high standard, and the same could be said... More

We went for a weekend with our three children, aged 15,13 and 8, so booked 2 rooms. Great welcome, beautiful old house, lots of old fittings and comfortable sitting room for guests, filled with books. Garden and grounds, where fruits are grown that are served at breakfast. Beautiful food. One of the nicest b and b experiences I have had... More

Can you imagine staying in an inn where the new addition is 300 years old! What a charming site and home with their still-working dairy farm and river for fishing nearby. Every member of the Nugent family welcomed us with open arms, even changing our friends to a bigger room when one became available, though the "smaller" room was not... More

Good quality accommodation and Joan and her family are extremely hospitable, making for a very pleasant stay. A cup of tea and (big) piece of pie on arrival shows the kind of treatment you can expect during your time here. Had a choice of rooms all of which looked inviting. The room we had was clean, comfortable and well-furnished. Breakfast... More

This is a lovely B & B. My daughter and I stayed for two nights at the beginning of August 2012. From the moment we arrived we were made to special. The whole family was very warm and welcoming. The room that we stayed in was part of the original castle and was very large with a great view. The... More

Our stay at Castle Country House was absolutely wonderful! My husband and I with two other couples traveled Ireland for 10 days, with a scheduled stop at Castle Country House for one night mid-August. The Nugents are warm and welcoming, making us all feel very comfortable and at home. The rooms are beautiful, up to date, and comfortable...and the food... More

On an all B&B vacation, to be the best in both room and breakfast is a signficant achievement. The room was very comfortable and the bath very up to date. But my best memory is the porridge with the home grown rhubarb and berries!!! The full Irish breakfast was great too. The walk to the stream is a must (especially... More

We spent three very enjoyable nights here in mid-May 2012. We had a big, comfortable bedroom and, after a good night's sleep, delicious breakfasts with lots of fruit, fresh eggs cooked to perfection, good coffee and exceptional home-made brown wheaten and fruit soda bread. And a very warm welcome from our host, Joan Nugent, and her daughter. We will go... More

My aunt, husband & I spent 3 nights with the Nugents, and thoroughly enjoyed their hospitality, accommodations & food. All were wonderful. I made the mistake of getting directions off Google, which directed us onto the R672. We were completely lost, but were giving it one more shot, still having to stop to ask at a farmhouse if we were... More
