We travel in Crete with my family. I wanted my children to see the paradise on earth and instead this hotel gave us: frozen uneatable food (meat - fish) at the middle of Mediterranean Sea, orange juice from a tin at the land where thousands of tons of oranges produced, milk from a tin and above all no water at... Had been to Chania many times but had never stayed outside the city. Chose The Asterion because of its location on the beach and it not being in the centre of a town. What a find! From the moment we arrived at Reception and shown to our lovely room we were made to feel like Royalty by all the staff.... More

Stayed here while attending a conference in Platanias. As others have said, it is definitely not a 5* hotel, but it is excellent and you do no pay 5* prices. In fact I don't like 5* hotels as they tend to be pretentious places. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The room as very spacious with a balcony... More

Hotel has been promoted as a 5-star one. CERTAINLY not. This is at best a 4* if not 3-4. However, the very friendly staff mitigated partially some of the weaknesses. We stayed there for a week in mid-August with 3 kids. If you are looking for luxury staff/ comforts this is not the place. If your looking for a friendly/... More

The common areas are nice, the swimming pool, the breakfast terrace, the bar...the beach is really at the hotel, not like other hotels that you have to walk a bit until you reach the beach. The hotel and the area is in general very quiet, with a very long path for walking along the beach or going running, for example.... More

the hotel was not very good for a 5 star, but the personnel was excellent. The double room was spacious enough for 3 persons, but the furniture was simple. I expected it to be a bit classy. One of the drawbacks was the twin bed instead of a double, and the fact that we had to pay extra 6 euros... More

We stayed at this hotel a week. Room was nice and clean, The View was at the sea. Hotel was peaceful alltouhg all rooms were occupied. Food was good both at the ala carte restaurant and at the dinner buffet. I only wish that the portions were smalled, because big portions are waste of food. Breakfast was included and there... More

The room was good but not of a five star hotel comparing the price! The staff polite and helping but very few in numbers and could not run the hotel. Food very moderate to bad! No kids facilities although advertised. More
