The outside and kitchen facilities are good, it's a party hostel and considering that there is no windows in the room, just big holes you could be bothered by the noise! The room was the worst I've stayed in Costa Rica mainly because it is kind dirty and the pillows and mattresses are mold so the smell was terrible! The... More

This place is great. I have stayed here twice. Lots of surfers, good vibe, great open kitchen, free breakfast, so many nice social areas, hammocks, love the layout. They have 3 free computers with internet in air conditioning! It's great. I always meet great people when I stay there. It's right next to the supermarket, and a block from the... More

We walked into the Santa Teresa location in desperate need of a place to stay. Tranquilo had a room with a set of bunk beds and a full size bed for me, my girlfriend, and 2 Swedes that joined us in our travels back in Montezuma....it was a perfect room, and a great price. We didn't have our own bathroom... More

If you are into surfing, live an active lifestyle, and enjoy other people who do too...STAY HERE. This is a small surfer town built for just that. It is literally across the street from the beach. It has a great balance of party, fun, and active living. If you like to sleep until the afternoon this is not the place... More

Two problems i have with this hostel. The cleaners start cleaning too early in the morning, moving chairs and banging around the place at 9am. By 11am they are lying in hammocks asleep. Second problem is the dorm rooms have no windows are shutters so not only is it louder from noise outside but there is loads of bugs in... More

It's terrible. Don't stay there. My Girlfriend and i booked a private room for 3 nights and they are so unorganized that they overbooked us. so when we got there, we didn't have our room. they told us to book two single beds in the dorms for the night ( even if we were gonna share one) and promised us... Tranquilo felt like a big happy party. A party that ended at 11:00 pm and moved down the street to the dance club or various restaurants hosting live music. I loved the balance between fun and sleep - very important! More

Stayed at Tranquilo for 5 nights. I am a solo female traveler and it was a great place to meet new people and feel safe. Hostel has great big clean kitchen. Also the rooms are being cleaned every day. Very close to everything, and the beach too! More

I was going to stay in this hostel, and checked in in the morning. Then I went renting a surfboard, and surfing the great waves of Santa Teresa. After an hour or 2, I returned to the hostel, to find out that the cleaning lady had cleaned the room I was staying in (she removed the sheets I had put... More
