Stayed for 1 night while traveling from Oslo to Bergen. Was a perfect break after being on the ferry for 4 hours! The hotel is conveniently located a few minutes away from the ferry terminal. Check in staff greeted us warmly and suggested good options of things to do and see. Our room was spotlessly clean. A bit dated but... More

My husband and I stayed here twice on our trip through the Norwegian Fjords. We were able to rent a car at the hotel and travel through the northern part of the country. Nothing is more beautiful than the country of Norway! We were completely amazed at the endless blue waterfalls and gorgeous green mountains. One of our favorite places... More

We stayed at Kviknes in August of 2010 to celebrate my father's 70th birthday - we brought our 4 kids, so there were 3 generations and we ALL adored the hotel! My father has stayed there a number of times over the years, but my husband and I had only been there once before, 20 years ago, when we celebrated... More

This hotel is a few feet off the actual Fjord and offers a rich, historic experience while on your Fjord trip. We stayed here in July with a family of six. This is a hotel that is used by all the Fjord tours so it can get busy, especially around mealtime. The rooms were dated (but comfortable), the food was... More

My husband and I visited here a couple of years ago. After the fact, I found out that my aunt visited here in 1978 and my grandfather visited the hotel in 1939. A family tradition! The views were gorgeous. We were in the modern wing, and the room was adequate. If you plan to enjoy just the room, it might... More

The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The owner of the hotel was a saccarin sweet nice, if you get what I mean. We were promised the Bridal Suite, apparently the best room in the hotel! As we walked down the hallway to our room, I had a sinking feeling. The photos of the place were a gross misrepresentation.... More

Dear Madam or Sir, I am truly sad to learn that your stay at Kviknes was not as expected. We are sorry if you have gotten the impression that we were a luxurious hotel. In Norway there is no official hotel classification. We offer clean and comfortable rooms with normal standards (no minibar), and fine dining experience with quality food... More

the view onto the Sonjeford is breathtaking and so is the choice of food for dinner in the hotel. A quiet but big historic hotel in a small village, which is great for walks and taking in the typical fjord landscape. More

This is one of te most beautiful hotel I've ever been. Unfortunately my room was placed in a back side awful new building, although still the views were very nice. Be sure you get a room at the main front side building. Apart of this all the common areas of the hotel are really beutiful with amazing views to the... More

This is an amazing hotel in a beautiful setting. I stayed in the newer part of the hotel which did lack some of the niceties of a modern chain hotel , but it was clean, comfortable and the view I had of the fjord was magnificent. The buffet food was a amazing, both in quantity and quality. Wide varieties of... More

If you're looking for a tranquil, beautiful getaway, consider Balestrand, Norway, located deep in the Songnefjord nestled in the mountains. This historic hotel has grand views of the fjords and surrounding mountains. For an isolated location, the rooms are clean and comfortable, but don't expect much. They are simple, with average decoration, and on the small side, but you won't... More
