You absolutely need four wheel drive to get up. To this place. Beautiful setting and gorgeous views. Cabin was fine. Owners took no interest in guests. We got stuck on road and arrived quite late. They held dinner but then left. No alternatives if you don't like what they are serving. Next day didn't offer suggestions for hiking information or... More

We read up on this place before we decided to reserve 3 nights in a private cabin here in April. The private rooms were very small, it just barley fit the bed and had a little cubby hole for personal items. There is no porch / chairs around the cabins to speak of - so getting away and reading a... More

We are sorry to hear you were disillusioned with FEV while visiting last year. This was during a transitional time for the business. However, we are pleased to inform you and your friends that the property is now under new ownership and management and we are making every effort to improve the areas you mentioned in your review that were... We read a lot about this place, and I feel sorry to give it a bad rate, because of the good work they are doing. After a 4 km hike uphill with our backpacks there was a warm welcome by the staff. Two options to stay; the bunkbeds of $ 15 each or a $ 75 very basic doubleroom. An... More

Our stay at FEV was ok but not wonderful. We had read so many positive reviews and we were disappointed with this place. This is not a place for vegetarians and coffee filter is not very good. American influence is disappointing, they serve very little fruits and only pancakes in the morning. We prefer tipical dishes. Trails are very nice... More

My trip to FEV was a last-minute trip with absolutely no expectations. I was wildly surprised by the gorgeous location, fabulous food and service, warm local hospitality, and very good accommodations. The nature walks with local guides were so informative and beautiful...birds, flowers, fruit, foliage. Staying on an actual organic coffee farm was a real treat! Unbelievable experience! The trip... Our stay at FEV was a wonderful experience....comfortable accommodations with great food and extremely attentive staff. Learned a lot about shade-grown organic coffee, which gave me a whole new appreciation of organic coffee. We went for walks along the trails led by local guides, who were very knowledgeable and very willing to answer all our questions. We saw lots of... More

Our [coffee] cup runneth over. . . what a great place! If you are interested in 1) coffee, 2) Nicaragua, 3) jungle and rainforest, 4) birds, and 5) learning about yourself -- then go!

My visit to FEV, in combination with a few days home stay in the town of San Ramon, was by far the most wonderful vacation I have ever had. We enjoyed the walks at FEV with Humberto, the naturalist, who can answer any question about plants or wildlife and can spot a sloth or a hummingbird nest from far away.... More

High in the mountains of central Nicaragua, at the end of a long unpaved road, sits this gem of an eco-lodge located on a working coffee plantation. No phones, no internet, and no electricity (other than what's generated on-site with solar and hydro), you will truly get away from daily life. You'll have comfortable, if basic, accommodations, wood-fired showers, and... More

FEV is a remote jewel of a destination above San Ramon. The glimpses of rural life on the journey there was an education in itself. We arrived to our comfy solar powered cabin with gorgeous landscaping and a breathtaking overlook. (Take plenty of camera cards and batteries!) The food was tasty and the staff aims to please. The surrounding trails,... More
