After traveling mainland Nicaragua for a week, we landed at Paraiso and couldn't be more pleased. Rooms are cabana-style, with air-con, comfy beds, hot water, hammock on your porch. It may be owned by a couple of Dutch citizens, however, they have not brought any improvements to Big Corn. The hotel is a joke - bad location, narrow strip of property on a lousy beach, over-priced meals, uncomfortable rooms, etc., etc. Their website suggests that couples can plan a wedding at their beach...it would be their worst nightmare. A 10% gratuity is added to every bill at the restaurant. The employees do not see any of it as the owner pockets the tips. A guest left $150 for the waitresses and it was not given to them.
