We just returned from staying at The Pearls for four days during our daughters wedding in Newport. Lovely place not far from harbour front/ shops etc. Ray was a great host with nothing being too much to ask. Other reviews have commented on the cost but this seems to be a Newport thing with many B&B's raising their prices in season and even just for the weekend. Searching in vain for a B&B that was not drenched in class New England floral decor, I was pleased to find the classic, simple design at the Pearls. We stayed here in the main house. It was okay. This is not a bad place by any means, but for the amount of money that you're paying, you're expecting luxury. It fell way short of that. Breakfast was practically non-existent at this so-called "B&B". Just a couple of stale bagels and muffins. Not even cereal! Getting a cup of coffee was a ridiculous adventure. Glorified motel dubbed as "high-end" but did not deliver. No amenities, not even toiletries or an ironing board. Even the magazine provided was from 2007! Not recommended. more
