We stayed at the Jailhouse Inn this summer for 2 nights to celebrate my birthday. We are not especially picky travelers and we both really enjoyed this cute inn. Its clean, they are very friendly and it’s a great location. Its close enough to Thames Street and all the restaurants to walk but not too much in the thick of... More

Stayed here with my boyfriend in July 2011 for a birthday getaway and we really loved it. We wrote a glowing review in their guestbook! The place is a lovely historic building which makes it all the more exciting to visit. The gardens were beautiful with flowers overflowing everywhere. The location is great - close to town but far enough... More

this place is quiet, free parking (which in newport, any parking is unheard of)walking to everything except beaches..take the trolley or short drive to beach. lovely front porch with loads of comfortable furniture to have your morning coffee or people watch. our room was large and clean with a small frige, they had free wifi along with free breakfast coffee... Stayed at the Jailhouse Inn over the weekend. A wonderful inn with a great inn keeper, Sharon. Rooms are spacious. We were on the second floor. Tastefully decorated, modern furniture. I liked ithat it was off the main area of attractions, so it was a little less noisy. We didn't eat breakfast there. Only issues, beds were hard, though lots... More

If you arrive not expecting 5 star service and accommodation then you will not be disappointed. What you will get is a very warm welcome, clean, spacious rooms and a well positioned place to stay in the interesting town/city of Newport. Breakfast is simple but adequate and the setting of an old jailhouse complete with steel cage/cell doors still hanging... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights at the Jailhouse. The staff at the front desk were friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable...I loved the huge bathroom with plenty of natural light. Breakfast was ample and varied...it always irks me to see other cheap guests pilfering all the accoutrements from the breakfast buffet to make their lunch sandwiches... More

Stayed in this hotel recently for a business/pleasure trip. As other have mentioned, it's more like a 2.5-star hotel than an inn. The location is fantastic and there is a small lot where guests can park free. The decor is basic and a little frayed; the beds are extremely firm; the blinds don't block out the light; the continental breakfast... More

We stayed here for 2 nights and did not want to leave. The hotel was quaint and beautiful. The rooms were well furnished and very clean. It was located close to the marina and a short walk from a number of very nice restaurants. The staff were extremely friendly and gave us advice on what to do in Newport. We... More

An ancient historic building converted to a B & B. OK but not up to the best standards. Our fellow guest were much more interesting than the tired decor and strange layouts for about $200 a night. The best advantage was its location close to the downtown, including the noisy buses and trucks on the street outside. Not the toniest... More
