A fabulous place. It's not often that you cross paths with a group of deer on your walk to dinner. the restaurant is brilliant and completely unexpected in an out of town location. the bar is friendly and exactly what is needed after a long hike. the view from the rooms are fantastic too. the rooms are a little tired... Had a great time traveling with family over Thanksgiving weekend. Very nice rustic rooms and a beautiful setting. The food, however, left a lot to be desired. Thanksgiving buffet was a mediocre attempt at being gourmet. Dining room had trouble other two evenings our party of 8. Had to split up Friday evening at 2 separate tables in the tap... More

I've been visiting Skyland (and Big Meadows) for more than 40 years. I appreciate the rustic mountain lodges, nightly acoustic entertainment, decent food at a reasonable price and spectacular views. Skyland is a great place to go to get away, reflect and 'recharge my batteries'. The kids love it there also! More

We had the opportunity to have a spur of the moment getaway over Thanskgiving weekend. We booked two nights at Skyland Resort. The resort closed for the season at noon on the day we departed....but the service was great right up until we left. The room is not luxurious...but the surroundings more than made up for it. We stayed in... More

We stayed at the Skylands resort in the National Park above Luray. The views were spectacular, the road winding and clear, but the rooms were less than great. We stayed with our pets, and the rooms were clean, but very basic. No fluff here. I believe they have newer rooms but I guess they only allow pets in the older... More

We have been traveling to Skyland for over 20 years. We have gone from a family of 4, dragging 2 kids up the mountains, to trying to keep up with them, to just the 2 of us. We love the location and the view. We accept that the accommodations are at best primitive. The shower barely sprays the water they... More

We stayed here for two nights in September while travelling from Washington DC to Blacksburg, VA, and explored Shenandoah Natl. Park from here. When we arrived, Skyland was in the midst of a rainstorm with zero visibility but the weather cleared again quickly that night. We enjoyed Skyland Resort a lot and wished we could have stayed longer. A highlight... More

We went to enjoy the change of the season.. The leaves were beautiful. The trip was great we were surprised and pleased by the Veteran's Day weekend "no fee" to enter the Nat'l Park. The resort is a little rustic which adds to the charm. We stayed in the 1 room cabin-which had a nice cozy bed and pillows/ stand... More

This was our second trip to Shenandoah NP, but the first time to stay at Skyland. Our room had a beautiful view out over the valley, although the room itself showed some age. The water pressure in the sink is low - to conserve water. We were fortunate to hit really nice weather, but unfortunate in that the leaves had... More

We arrived on a chilly rainy-foggy morning. The fog rolled away revealing brilliant yellow, red and rust foliage. What an amazing sight! The room was slightly rustic but everything was clean and comfortable. We loved everything about the cabins and resort restraunt!! More
