Stayed two nights to tour Salem. Inn was spotless, room was spotless. John felt like a family member you had not seen in a while. Location was great, had free parking at the parking deck 1 block away. WiFi worked well. Host was able to answer all questions and give great advise on local foods, history and other local drives.... We didn't have advance reservations but they had vacancies and the price was reasonable-I had called around to various hotels on the way to Salem to get prices. We were going to stay here only one night but decided to stay a second night because there was so much to do in Salem. Our host, Daniel, was very accomodating and... More

I had read such mixed reviews on this place before I went that I had been nervous about my booking. I will list the positive and negative and that way you can decide if it's right for you. Positive: Price is great for the location and time of year The location was my prime reason for staying here since we... More

This house was beautiful and John was a great host and cat lover which alway wins points with me. We had alot of privacy and we got to watch alot of action from our windows. We were right in the thick of things. Great choice for our first B&B. Nice breakfast, easy and conveniant. I will definately recommend this lovely... More

The best part of our visit was meeting John the Innkeeper. He's a delight. If you are into witches and such, the location is terrific. Other than that, it's rather blah. For our $150/night room, we got a small, rather spartan cube decorated by Helen Keller in 1935. I jest of course, but it was terribly plain. The mattress was... More

Just got back from a one-night, last minute stay at the Stepping Stone. Amazingly located...literally in the heart of everything! Within easy walking distance of most major attractions. John can give excellent suggestions for dinners and sights. Very accommodating. Would stay again in a heartbeat! More

I stayed at the Stepping Stone my first trip to Salem and have since been back every year for the past 5 years. All you have to do is park your car and walk to every attraction because you really are in the heart of Salem at the Stepping Stone. John, the inn keeper is very nice and has been... More

Very convenient if your only reason to visit Salem is the witch museum and it is right next door. However, the place is in need of updating and is a bit grubby. The bathroom in our room was tiny. Breakfast was poor - juice, coffee and mini boxes of cereal - - not good! More

We very much enjoyed our stay at Stepping Stone Inn. John was a wonderful host, gave great recommendations and was very helpful and accomodating to all our needs. The inn was kept immaculately clean and had wonderful charm in it's decoration. Our bathroom was private but outside of the room but was no problem with privacy as no other room... More

My wife and I stayed at Stepping Stone Inn while on our way to view the fall foliage in upper New England. The Inn is a quaint house built in the mid 1800’s. John, the innkeeper was very courteous and helpful. He was very knowledgeable of the area and its history and offered many good suggestions. As the previous reviewer... More
