We always stay here in Estes Park. Great cabins right on the river. You can crack your window and listen to the river go by at night. The best. Also it sits right before the entrance of Rocky National Park. Perfect location. My girls who are 13 and 11 love it as well. Donna is very friendly and helpful with... More

Cozy cabin fifteen feet from the river, minutes away from Rocky Mountain National Park? If this is what you are looking for, consider the Idlewilde. There are many to choose from, so it's a bit overwhelming. While the Idlewilde cabins are not plush they are certainly comfy and you will not be roughing it. Just don't expect a pillowtop mattress!... More

This isn't a fancy place. It is very clean, with wonderful surroundings (many cabins right on the Big Thompson River), and great hosts. Just the kind of place I really like. We stayed in a two bedroom cabin that was very roomy. I love the location (outside of busy Estes a mile or so). Wonderful restaurants are close by. More

We call "Idlewilde by the River" our "home away from home". Each year before we leave, we make reservations for the following year for the same two weeks in Naughty Pine. As we drive away & head for home, one or more of us can be heard saying, "I can hardly wait until next year!" The Big Thompson River running... More

Our family has been visiting Estes Park for 30 years, and have stayed at several cottage locations. Discovered Idlewilde several years ago, and will never stay anywhere else! The cabins are quaint, clean and very accommodating. The location is superb, nestled beneath the pines on the banks of the rolling Big Thompson River! But the defining factor is Lloyd and... More

We always reserve our cabin a year ahead, even before we check out, as we absolutely love this personal, small, beautiful resort. My husband and I enjoyed a week together, then I stayed by myself to rest, and be rejuvenated by the sight and sounds of the Big Thompson River. We have looked at a number of other places in... More

If you are looking for an affordable, clean, adorable, yet rustic cabin-type vacation chose family owned Idlewilde by the River when next you visit Estes Park, Colorado. There are a number of cabins from which to choose. My three school chums and I return year after year to the Aloha cabin which is located about 5 feet from the banks... More

I've been visiting Estes Park, Colorado for over 60 years and of all the places I've stayed, Idlewilde is number one. Each log cabin sits just feet from the roar and tumble of the Big Thompson River. Pine and aspen trees teem with mountain birds and chipmunks scurry among the wildflowers. They look happy and free as I feel in... More

Donna and Lloyd Claypool have become like members of our family. They are perfect hosts. The property is very scenic, and is well maintained. The location right on the river is great. Prior to leaving after our annual stay, we are sure to reserve our cabins for the next year. We have never considered staying anywhere else. More

Lloyd and Donna are such wonderful hosts that one feels like they are at home when around them. They truly care about their guests, that they are comfortable, informed and feel welcomed in their little, intimate resort. We loved the wild life that roamed thru the grounds, the chairs that were down by the river where you could relax, read,... More
