I was traveling as part of a fourteen person birding group in June 2010 when we spent an overnight at the Calumet Inn. I was the single person in the group and had a lovely room to myself; it was a large double Queen, clean, comfortable, and had one of the biggest bathrooms I've ever seen. I've read some of... More

We stayed for the weekend while visiting family and checking out local historical museums. Our children thought the hotel was "neat and different." They didn't seem to miss the pool as we used the pool at the rec center across the street. It appears the hotel is under new and they seem to be trying to update the place a... More

We stayed one night at the Calumet and had a great time. The staff was super friendly and helpful. My daughter has very thick, long hair and when we needed extra shampoo and an extra blanket and pillow the staff were VERY helpful. If you want the Hilton go to the Hilton. If you want History and can deal with... More

This place is the worst. It is extremely dirty and the service is horrible. The staff seems to think that because it is a "historic" hotel, they can get away with sub-par (and that's being very kind) service and amenities. A new hotel will open in Pipestone in late summer, 2009. Anything has to be better than this place. Very... More

We are very sorry your stay was unpleasant. The hotel came under new owners in the latter part of 2009 and the conditions at the hotel have improved dramatically. I think you will find our service is of the utmost quality and we have numerous amenities, including a restaurant, two lounges. The Historic Calumet is once again the pride of... More

Ok. So you can't really expect too much in Pipestone. But the AC didn't work and there was no apology or explanation from the front desk. Eventually I opened my windows and the front door of the room for an hour+ to allow a breeze to flow through. The other posting are right on - avoid this place if you... More

The minute we walked in we wanted to leave. We had reserved 2 nights in this town for a wedding and with time constraints had no choice but to stay the first night. So gross - we didn't let our skin touch anything. The wallpaper is stained, the carpet dark, dirty and ripped up, the sink was dirty, the shower... More

The hotel was run down, needed lots of repairs. Was dusty and dirty. Maid service was awful, we even found a used bar of soap in the shower... the television didn't work properly. The staff was not overly friendly. The staff was more concerned on sitting around visiting with each other, eating, and talking on their phone. We were disappointed,... More

"Velcome! Velcome to this vonderful hotel... ha ha ha!" Anyone who gives this haunted house a two-star rating is intellectually dishonest. It is a dump. An absolute dump. It is quite scary. We were appalled at lack of upkeep at this hotel. The thick smoke smell and thick red carpet could easily conceal any murders that might have recently taken... More

This hotel is a mess. They have not put one dime back into since it's renovation. We had no hot water all weekend, old carpet throughout smells like mold. We had dangerous exposed wiring with post it notes in room. Place is gross, do not stay here! Recommend Hilltop Inn in Luverne, closes decent place in area. More
