To find the Walker House you travel along South Crater Road, a uninspiring commercial strip. Hidden between a Salvadoran restaurant and Goodwill is a long walled driveway lined with sycamores. Follow the driveway back a hundred yards and you will enter a hidden Looking Glass world in which a gracious 1815 plantation house is surrounded by gardens and ponds. You... More

We stayed in the Autumn Room which was huge and very comfy. Appreciated the free wine when we came in each night. We had the run of the whole downstairs floor and I especially loved the library. Breakfasts were good and filling and Conrad was very helpful with advice on local restaurants and other touristy stuff. Would stay here again. More

What a wonderful experience! We were a little concerned, since we were on a VERY commercial road but once we turned down the long driveway and got to the Walker House it was like a whole other world. So quiet and secluded! Conard and David are wonderful hosts. The room we stayed in was large (as are all the rooms)... More

My husband and I stayed at the Walker House B&B after a long drive; we arrived a bit earlier than planned but one of the hosts, David, quickly got everything ready for us and gave us a tour. The home is very big and lavishly decorated but it still feels warm. The owners' bar and kitchen are offered to guests... More

We discovered this place on our GPS....called an hour and a half ahead of time and they still had two rooms for us to choose from. We stayed in the Autumn room - very spacious, beautifully furnished and has its own fireplace. The inn is tucked away off the main road -- and is very charming. Worth a lavish overnight... More

My husband and our families stayed at the Walker House for a weekend in January 2011. We were looking for a place that would be halfway between PA and SC that our families could meet at and celebrate Christmas together (albeit a little late). We all loved the Walker House. We booked all four of the rooms for our family,... More

We stayed at the Walker House for two nights right after Christmas looking for some much needed rest and relaxation. The 6-7 inches of snow made us worry that they wouldn't be expecting us but when we arrived there was a fire in the fireplace and the Christmas tree was lit. We had a wonderful stay at The Walker House... More

We recently stayed at Walker House for two nights during a week-long road trip. The B&B is easy to find, conveniently located off I-95. We arrived on a very hot afternoon and were greeted by David, one of the owners, with refreshing bottles of ice cold water and an invitation to sit and talk while we became acclimated to the... More

Probably the nicest B&B I've ever stayed in, so nice that we rearranged our itinerary to add an extra night. Lovely, historic mansion, exquisitely restored, with beautiful, extensive gardens. Rooms extremely comfortable. Just off a major highway, but completely quiet and tranquil. The hosts are delightful, the food is wonderful. Highly recommended to anyone passing through the Petersburg area. More

I found Walker House online and it looked great even though the site only showed 2 of the four rooms. The site also doesn't show the beautiful gardens with charming walkways, an old tree swing, and the fish pond and fountain. When we drove up though, my heart sank. There was a "for sale "sign on the driveway wedged in... More
