My friend and I stayed here for 3 nights, mainly due to the good reviews on this site, and we were not disappointed. It wasn't a fancy hotel but very clean and welcoming and had everything we needed. It was also in the best location at the best price. What more could you want! The choice at breakfast was superb... more

Don't look for fancy at this hotel but if your looking for basic accommodations, with really friendly staff, this is the place! It's about 2 blocks from Temple Square and the Salt Palace convention center and about a block to the nearest Trax station. I came in for a convention and searched for hours online to find a place that... more

We stayed here at the end of a 3 week trip during the 4th of July weekend. It was one of the best places we stayed, and we'd highly recommend it. Located close to Temple area and public transit. They provided free parking and free breakfast (with gigantic pancakes). The room was huge with a sink and plates and glasses.... more

The kids were fussing my daughter has recently been blessed with a beautiful daughter. Needless to say we could all use a place to rest a... more

We booked for 4 nights but only stayed for two. Construction outside our window woke us up. Room was not serviced because the "privacy button was on." When we pointed this out no attempt was made to rectify the problem. Sent an email after our stay and received an apology but nothing else. more

Let me start by saying that this is not a fancy place with all the amenitites. It is perfect for the budget traveller who still expects great value, cleanliness and service. We were a group of 2 adults, a senior and a 9 year old child and had come to do genealogy at the family history center (not the child).... more

We stayed at this hotel because of the previous reviews at Tripadvisor. Previous reviewers mentioned about its affordable price, slightly dated decor, clean rooms and sensational made-to-order omelette breakfasts. All those comments turned out to be TRUE. We stayed there for 3 nights and we enjoyed our stay a lot. It is close to the Temple Square and the surrounding... more

A great central location. Hotel is only a few minutes from Temple Square and other central points. Rooms not great in size and a little outdated but very clean and comfortable. This is the best breakfast we have had in America, cooked to order, so it is fresh and tastey. Staff were all so friendly and very helpfull. The price... more

Wonderful base for using the LDS genealogy library three blocks away. Friendly, helpful staff, free pickup and return to airport, good reading lights in room (a small thing but neglected by so many hotels), and an overall genteel dowager feel to this 1920s family-owned property, showing some age but with dignity, including new paint and carpeting in the comfortable rooms.... more

This September I returned to the Carlton for my seventh week-long stay in as many years. My roomate and I come for a week of research at the Family History Library every Fall. We know the staff so well, they meet our particular needs without us even asking! We had an older suite this time, but as usual, it was... more
