Built "alpine" style (Fox Glacier town is close to sea-level). Apartment all wood look - no hanging area - bed - bathroom ok, except shower was very odd - a retractable plastic shower curtain over half the bathroom floor - as a shower recess. We stayed in one of the apartments with a spa and it was lovely. Liked the fact there was a living area downstairs and bedroom upstairs. We stayed here one night and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The reception staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The almost brand-new lodge had two levels. Fox Glacier Lodge is a unfriendly place. Reception is closed most of the times, not helpful. Small rooms with old bathroom. Walls are thin and you hear noises from the other rooms. Booked the apartment style unit (there are only 3 of them) which is newer. It's a loft style with the bed upstairs. Kitchen, dining area, sofa, TV, and bathroom are downstairs. After reviewing so many lodging in the area because we couldn't get a nice one in Fran Josef area, I got confused about whether breakfast was included or not.... more
