The motel managers care about their clients - they are caring and thoughtful people. The motel is kept clean and is comfortable. The views? Well, the view from the one bedroom duplex is AWESOME! I will be returning and to stay a lot longer than the one night I had this time. Proximity to Lake Matheson just adds the final... More

We spent 3 nights here on our extended tour of South Island. The hosts were welcoming and friendly. The room was spacious, clean comfortable and well equiped. Thought had clearly been put into equiping the room to ensure that guests had all they needed. The bathroom appeared a little old fashioned but had a good powerful and hot shower. The... More

We stayed in many nice hotels in NZ; this was not one of them. Very nice, friendly people, but the room was sub-par: - Bugs in the room - The beds, furniture, the PHONE were all old, used/worn. - Not grotesquely dirty, but NOT clean. - The shower was a drain in the floor of the bathroom. Not entirely out... More

The motel does have a nice view; it is clean and quiet. The room is large and comfortable. We were there for two nights and will definitely stay again the next time we are in the area. Gavin is very cordial and goes out of his way to be helpful. The location is good; not too close to the village... More

We stayed here in a queen bed room. We were traveling with a car so it was convenient to get to the hotel. Our room was large, very clean and had typical 'motel' feel - you park outside your unit and have your own entrance. It was not particularly private - if you want to see the view of mount... More

We stayed one night recently after a day on the glaciers and then walking to the seal colony at Gillespie's Beach ( a three + hour-return trip which is not mentioned in great detail in "Lonely Planet", but is full of breathtaking views-- a must-do when in the area). We were first shown a room which was a bit higher... More

Booked from the UK using TA. Very friendly welcome from Gavin the owner, with loads of advice of what to see and where to go. Nice spacious clean room with a good shower (but no bath). No real criticism, but there’s no extractor fan, so lots of condensation, which can’t be good for the décor in the long run. Anyway,... More

This was an extremely peaceful place to stay, Yes it was overpriced but EVERYTHING in this area is because it can be. Very friendly staff. Free internet was a winner for us. The unit was spacious and for us well located as we wanted to be out of town slightly. Would recommend this motel as I believe the staff are... More
