Over the last four years I have stayed repeatedly at Sandspit Retreat. Although I gave always stayed in their guest cottage Sandspit Retreat also offers a near new three bedroom home on a separate section. In a word, the guest house is magnificent. It is a fully self contained one bedroom cottage overlooking Sandspit and the Metakana estuary. The cottage is fully equipped including a separate games room featuring a climbing wall and an outdoor spar with magnificent views of the estuary. The hosts, Dennis and Sue Anderson, quickly become the brother and sister you always wished you had but never did. They are always friendly and attentive but never intrusive. Although I have never stayed there the three bedroom home was built in 2010 and is complete with an outdoor spa and wonderful views of the estuary. Three bedrooms make it an ideal accommodation for a larger group or family. I will be back in 2012 so book the cottage early or you will have to stand in line behind me. More

“Idyllic place for a weekend away or holiday retreat”

We stayed here for 2 nights, but could have easily stayed longer.

The great views of the Sandspit, warm cosy fire, spa pool and excellent facilities made Sandspit Retreat one of the best places we’ve stayed in. The place was spacious, comfortable and spotless. The games room was a great bonus having table tennis, pool table, x-box and even a climbing wall.

The hosts, Denis and Sue Anderson, were exceptional, very warm and friendly.

We were provided with ample supplies for Breakfast on our first morning. The kitchen was a full size and fully equipped kitchen. There is also a laundry available in the Retreat.

We will definitely be back when are batteries need recharging!
