I visited the Sani Lodge in January, 2012. It's a fantastic place to explore the Ecuadorian Amazon ecosystem and experience the diverse wildlife and culture of the region. But it may not be for everyone - the food is fine but not outstanding, the english language is not well spoken by most staff (which can lead to interesting results), the... More

After a 2.5 hour boat trip, a 20 minute walk and a half hour in a dug out canoe you will arrive wet and sweaty at Sani Lodge. The lodge is in a stunning location, on a lagoon and is as close and good as you will ( probably) ever get to experience the rain forest. The lodge is managed... More

827$/p 4n/5d Boat from Coca takes 3 hours.  Community-based jungle lodge with simple, clean bungalows for 2-3 persons, total max. 30 persons. The service at the lodge itself was very good. There is free WiFi, free water, tea and coffee. Rubber boots and rain ponchos are provided if asked for. Food is ok and there is a good variety. The... More

My daughter and sister-in-law and I spent four nights in the Lodge. The boat ride was a joy! Long, but better because of it. When we received our lunches wrapped in large leaves and tied with raffia, we knew we were in the right place! Javier, our guide, was extraordinarily knowledgeable. He and his brother have a rivalry to see... More

A great isolated lodge in the Amazon run and owned by the local tribe members. Food was good, my tent comfrotable and the location beautiful and serene. I would have liked more and more rigorous trekking options, but what we did was pretty great. Our guide was top notch (shout out to Olger). He was a local who spoke great... More

I went with a family containing 2 adults and 2 children ages 11 and 7. During our stay the food was good and our room was nice but basic. The activities organized were entertaining for all those participated and the kids really enjoyed using the blow darts. The fishing trip was a bit average as the rods are pieces of... More

i had a great time at Sani. i was attracted to it because it is fully owned by the local kichwa community and far from roads. they don't allow oil production and have stopped hunting near to the lodge so you see more wildlife than in other places. it's a bit dearer than some others but it is more remote... My wife and I stayed at Sani Lodge during the last week of November, 2010. We like to do things outdoors, and the experiences we had there were terrific. Lots of hiking in the rain forest, canoe trips, and wildlife watching. This may be unusual, but the two of us had a guide team ("native" guide and naturalist guide) all... More

My husband and I stayed in Sani Lodge for 5 nights and absolutely loved it. You really felt connected to the local community and in a remote part of the Amazon. Unlike othe lodges in the area this lodge is actually owned and operated by the local community and all profits benefit the local community and local schools. And the... More

Owned & operated by a genuine indigenous tribe, this cozy yet simple lodge creates a healthy blend of jungle life and modern flavor. If you are looking for the Hilton of the Amazon, then this is not for you. Enjoying your experience requires giving up certain luxuries such as hot showers, but that's okay....your in the freakin' jungle! Being an... More
