This place is great in so many ways. The staff are completely professional and friendly. The location is breathtaking. The tours and both educational and fun. The wildlife sightings were unbelievable. And the concept is completely unique and inspiring: the resort is fully owned and operated by the local indiginous tribe -- they get to show off their beautiful environment... more

We stayed for 7 days, six nights, and it was amazing. We saw 144 species of birds, 8 species of monkeys, both sloth species, wild pigs, cayman, many frogs, 7 or 8 macaw species, and on and on. The lodge is spotless. The staff are very helpful and friendly. You're provided with an english speaking naturalist and a local guide.... more

All the basic information about the hotel is already out there: amazing, spectacular, best adventure and best people ever, etc, etc. I plan to go back over and over. We absolutely LOVED it! Instead of repeating all of the same positive remarks, I just wanted to add my 2 cents about what isn't readily mentioned - toilets! There are normal... more

If ecotourism is responsible travel that promotes the conservation of natural areas and sustains the well-being of local peoples - then Napo Wildlife Lodge is it. What makes this place extra special is knowing that your money makes a difference to the Añangu community - the owners of the lodge. The income from the lodge allows the community to resist... more

The staff were all really nice, the food was excellent, the wildlife and jungle scenery were great. My only regret was that I did not say my highest priority was birdwatching. Those who did raise their hand on the boat (after the airport) got the guide with the bird call tape recordings and saw many more exotic birds than those... more

we would agree with other reviewers that this is a special place. the guides are all great, both at spotting wildlife, and teaching about the area.. the lodge and rooms are fine, esp considering everything has been moved by canoe. the center is totally dedicated to being enviro-friendly. food is good, and beverages were extra but reasonable. a warning: the coca airport... more

My Husband and I stayed here in Sept. 08. Words really cannot express how truly special this place is. I have never in my life cried when leaving a place. Here, I was balling like a baby at the airport! The Napo is run by the Anangu Quichua community. When you arrive, your first view is like seeing a mirage.... more

Staff extremely knowledgeable about wildlife. Guides both native and urban professional took time to show us the wildlife and explain what we were seeing. Tours were both walking and in dugout canoe or fiberglass dugout. Swimming could be with Piranha, Cayman, Electric Eels, and Sing Rays which guides explained would not harm the swimmer. Food was well done and acceptable.... more

Our stay at the NWC was the highlight of a recent trip to Ecuador that included the Galapagos. The lodge truly understands the concept of 'value add'. There were so many nice touches that the lodge provides that only adds to the visitor's sense of well being and feeling well taken care of. The grounds are lovely and immaculately kept,... more

This place is unforgettable. From the dug out canoe trip until we got to the center we didn't know what to expect. The service you receive at the wildlife center is like something you would never expect. The food was great too! They just organize everything and you learn so much. The cabanas are really nice and all face the... more
