If you are looking for cleanliness and luxury, then move on. This place is old, everything about it supports that, but it is comfortable and you are made to feel welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The carpet in the room needed a good vacuum, it was dusty and the high ceiling and light feature were full... More

We stayed in tiny room 8 and were charged 95pounds which, on investigating further on the hotel website, seems to be at least 30pounds too much. The room was dirty, the carpet was disgusting and the bathroom mouldy. A shame because it should be a lovely place to stay. More

Walking the Wychwood way brought us to this place on a Saturday night. Previous reviews not withstanding it was a convenient stop and had a bit of history. So the good points - we had room 7 looking over the road, it was clean, good sized bathroom and a comfy bed. Yes it is old and once you got used... More

An evening stroll through the quiet village of Shipton-Under-Wychwood took us to The Shaven Crown,a medieval public house on the high street. A stone archway leads you into an enclosed pretty courtyard with seating areas amongst the flowers.A further arch follows through to the back of the pub where there is a long garden with seats and a grassed area... Stayed in the deluxe family room (room 12) with my wife and teenage son. Plenty of room for everyone , room has been refurbished after a flood with new bathroom suite , shower etc. Underfloor heating in the bathroom was a nice touch. The owners will I'm sure upgrade the other rooms as time / money permits. Evening meal on... More

With faded feathers in her hair. This faded wonderful old building contains some large rooms with characterful metal windows, deep window sills and arched ceilings and a bar with an open fire. There is a fantastic enclosed courtyard and the entrance way is fantastic, however that is where the good stuff ends for me. We rang the bell on arrival... More

Because our nephew & his partner live close to this hotel, & because they've been advertising on local radio, we decided to go there for a late Sunday lunch. We had a voucher we'd bought via local radio which was going to reduce the cost somewhat. The meal was booked for 3pm. We arrived, & went into the bar, which... More

Well located, this hotel should offer so much more. Our room was dirty, and not serviced during our stay. Towels were left outside on the floor with a note saying 'clean towels' - I don't usually put clean towels on the floor. TV didn't worked post digital change over. Noise from room below (12) was as if people were in... More

Myself and my partner stayed for two nights on a 2 for 1 midweek break. From the outside the property is is beautiful, very old and historic overlooking a pretty church green ( although the road is quite busy). On entering the building we found ourselves in a spacious old hall area which was very cluttered with no sense of... More

The Hotel could be lovely because it is so historic. However we found it dirty, very shabby very cold and uncomfortable. The hotel does allow pets to stay, which we do not disapprove of. But we found our bedroom and bathroom covered in dog hair and it did not appear to have been attempted to have been vacuumed. The bathroom was... More
