We arrived in Besalu on something of a last minute decision. We had been driving around Catalonia and were interested in the bridge in this ancient town. It was getting dark and it was cold, and we - silly yes i know! - did not have a guide book that described much of Besalu. The GPS in the car failed... More

very small rooms, one of which had a very small, high window with no breeze whatsoever, and NO air conditioning and being August ,it was like an oven, the rooms are very basic and could do with a makeover as they looked a bit shabby. We booked for two nights but moved out after one. The breakfast food was very poor with stale bread and cereals on offer. The meat platter was also far from fresh.
