We reserved a superior room and it was very large. Double bed at each end, lounge area, writing bureau, tv unit, shower/wc, and still room to wander. Not cheap - but priced less than here in the UK for similar - and not excessive for what we got. I wasn't disappointed. The room had lots of charachter, but the view... more

We used the Hotel Tindastoll as a stopping-over-point as we made our way from Akureryi to Budir. The history of the building is evident, well-preserved, and a selling point. Our room was clean, but looked like it had been looted: only 1 wine glass, no mini-bar where one clearly was before, a random water-boiler shoved in a closet with no... more

A great hotel, although not with all the modern conveniences it is appreciated for the clear and warm style. Davide & Danica more

Spent one night here during our 4x4 tour around Iceland. This is a very small hotel and full of character. Our room was in the eaves and very quaint. Hotel has no restaurant but they booked us a table at a local one, 2 mins walk away called Olafshus which was very good. For one night we enjoyed our stay... more

Beautiful building, lovely room, fairly friendly staff, but breakfast was terrible (limited choice, poor quality products), poor quality, very limited toileteries in the bathroom. Very thin walls, TV and people noise from downstairs until past 1am. Breakfast very cramped around one table. more

Described as a "boutique" hotel and fairly expensive, even by Iceland standards, I was disappointed. Being old doesn't make it charming. Our room, while very large, was a bright intense orange and dark. Chairs and most furniture were worn and ugly. Beds were under the eves and a little claustrophobic. The Minibar was 2 shelves of tiny expensive liquor bottles for... more

Characterful old wooden building that makes a good stop-over point. We had a small but comfortable room. Breakfast was limited, but good quality. The hotel has a restaurant with a fixed menu each night, but we ate in town, in one of the 3 or 4 restaurants and cafes just 5 mins walk away. more

What a great experience! We stayed two nights in the Guðriður Þorbjarnadottír room - the same room Marlene Dietrich stayed in when she visited. The hotel is charming in every way - narrow halls, steep stairs, leaded glass and a big brass knocker on the front door. The bar in the basement is particularly rustic. The building is in beautiful... more

Hotel Tindastoll is located in north Iceland, in a small fishing village. It is a charming property, parts of it dating back to 1820. Marlene Dietrich stayed here during WWII while in Iceland entertaining the troops. One of the rooms is supposed to be haunted, and although my daughter and I tried to stay up to see the ghost, we... more
