The best stay during out 10 day trip around Iceland in February 2011 including the west through Snaefellus Peninsula and south to Hofn. Warm, quaint and hospitable this family run business is top notch! The beds were comfy, the food was great and the outdoor hottub in February was a truly Icelandic experience. The rooms even had slippers and robes... More

We found Hraunsnef after a google search as we wanted to spend Christmas in Iceland. Taking a bit of a risk we decided to book a three night stay including their special Christmas package staying 24 to 26 December. From the moment we arrived we knew we made the right decision. We loved the ambience of this place and our... More

My husband and I visited Hotel Hraunsnef last October for a much-needed romantic getaway. We stayed for one night, had a fantastic three course meal in the restaurant and breakfast in the morning. Our plan was to relax in a cosy country hotel, and Hraunsnef did not dissapoint. It is like a farm-stay in luxury rooms, with a great restaurant.... More

Absolutely magical holiday experience, with the most accomodating host and hostess you could ever want. Spotlessly clean and out of this world cooking, everything about this hotel and its people is 100% genuine, from the warm welcome to the assurance that if I was in trouble on the return journey, I could ring and they would come and make sure... What a fab place, you drive up and wonder what you are coming too but the rooms are modern, clean and spacious. The hosts were v welcoming, the dining room is a great surprise, so pretty for dinner and the food was incredible. Breakfast was great too. There are two gorgeous labradors around which our son loved. The games room/social... More

As others have mentioned, the outside of this hotel is not the most beautiful, but the rooms are very nice and clean and the hotel staff were incredibly friendly. The style of the rooms is very country and it has an almost old timey feel to it. Very cozy inside when the wind is howling outside! My wife and I... More

We didn't know what to expect when we pulled up as the building (constructed for wind, I'm sure) is not the most visually appealing but once you see the rooms and dining room, you'll be very pleasantly surprised. The rooms are really lovely and are all decorated differently, each with a theme (and color scheme) that they match beautifully. The... More

"Freya" was the name of our nicely decorated room where we stayed for one night. We arrived in the afternoon, so we had enough time to relax in the hot tub, have a drink on the terrace (in bright sunshine!) and visit the happy pigs in their outdoor barn. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. The menu offers lots of dishes... More

This is a proper farm holiday on a working farm, so I found it odd that it wasn't listed on Icelandic Farm Holidays. We did have a hard time finding it, as we couldn't find the "town" or street name on any of our maps, we drove about 50 - 60 miles north up the Ring Road from Borgarnes. The... More
