I stumbled across the Panama while Googling for a locally owned hotel while planning a first visit to the city over a long weekend. Despite some of the less-than-kind reviews online, the history of the place as found on its website sealed the deal. Making my reservation was amazingly easy and professional and when I called to confirm my reservation... More

After reading Hotel On the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, I wanted to stay at the Panama Hotel when we went to Seattle. We absolutely loved it! I was unsure after reading some of the reviews but have traveled extensively all over the world so was game to try this one. The room was clean and the beds were wonderful...soft... More

Ok. We are very modest folks but we do prefer to sleep in a clean and comfortable room especially for $112.00. We don't need frills. At all. But honestly this place was so horribly gross. The first room we were shown to not only had an old, grey, and stained "rug" that looked straight out of an auto garage and... More

If your in it for a quick stay than this isn't your place, however, if your looking to get a piece of history then this is the place. I was a little skeptical on this place due to bad reviews and the overall look of the place. Truthfully, I thought I was gonna see a ghost and be freaked out and... More

I can't give a review of this hotel because after 10+ phone calls (I was constantly told to call when the owner was in) including 2 to the owner's personal line, she never returned my call. When the person at the front desk was asking her a question for me, I could hear the owner talking in a very abusive... More

The rooms of the Panama Hotel are modest (ergo the modest price), though filled with antique furniture and brightly lit by windows. But the building in its entirety is worth your trip. Recently the focus of the best-selling book "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet," the Panama Hotel was long the focus of Seattle's old Japantown...until the forced... More

I stayed here one night in May. Was in Seattle on business. Talk about steeped in history! This place feels, oozes, drips, looks and smells it. The Panama Hotel was built by a Japanese entrepreneur in 1910 and I loved that I was in same place as the Japanese immigrants, Alaskan fisherman and workers who had landed in Seattle to... More

This hotel is great! The owner is really friendly, and seems to have dedicated her life to preserving this landmark hotel and the stories that come with it. The rooms are very well kept and are meant to be as similar to the original rooms as possible. I stayed here because I had read "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter... More

The good part is that the Panama Hotel is in an interesting part of Seattle, surrounded by a lot of Asian restaurants and grocery stores. The bad news is that it's run by a really terrible woman. I don't want my bad service rating to reflect on the staff, they were not great, but okay. But the owner seemed like... More
