Why we loved this place: 1. We got the smallest room of the lot. The overall place was awesome. It's really offbeat! 2. Breakfast verendah is awesome. 3. Veronica 4. The awesome fruits and breakfast If you want complete comfort, quite and "regular" stuff this is probably not the place. It has its own eccentricities (frogs croaking, dark) and you... More

My husband and I stayed two nights in the tea house but we wished we could have stayed more. It was beautiful, private and the new bathroom is amazing. I think I took 3 baths in 48 hours. All marble and absolutely gorgeous. They are very friendly here and the breakfast was delicious. It was a great way to start... More

We stayed here for 7 nights I would agree if you are a light sleeper you may need earplugs but we were both fine. We stayed in the Japenese tea house which has rice paper windows which may have intensified the sounds of nature but we got used to it quite quickly. This location was very central to everything including... More

We stayed at Hale Maluhia for 3 nights, in the Maile room. We did enjoy our stay, and the bird watching and breakfasts were as lovely as everyone says. I would note that the furnishings were older, including the coverlette on the bed (different than the one in the picture on the website). I would compare it to staying in... More

We stayed 3 nights at the Hale Maluhia and had a wonderful time. I loved the wonderful breakfast. Fresh fruit, juice, bread, jam. You can make omelets with all kinds of veggies or make your own waffles. It is definitely a plus considering how expensive it is to eat on the big island. We would eat a nice breakfast and... More

We found this a dim and dingy place. I stayed in two rooms, both of which smelled badly of mold and had dirty carpets. In one, the light bulbs in the bedside lights were too dim to read by (I finally stole one from the overhead), and in the other the entire shower assembly fell out of the wall, leaving... More

Seems to me that these folks were mostly offended by the Chick Tracts that they found on the top shelf of our book case. "These Tracts were not given to them." And then they could find nothing right. We never ever push our Christian faith on our guests, ever. We truly did honor their rights to "PEACE" , "COMFORT" and... More

We stayed the last three days of our vacation at Hale Maluhia Country Inn and want to thank you for the great hospitality we experience. The house and setting is beautiful. We enjoyed the little yard off our room. The breakfast were delicious and artistically pleasing. The fruit was mouth-watering and I enjoyed that we prepared the rest of our... More

I recently spent a week at this charming inn that is still run by the original owners who have lived there for 40 years. No wonder it feels like home. I got a chance to stay in 3 different rooms because no single room was available for a full week at my late reservation time. But it was a great... More

Stayed in the main house. Was quiet and comfortable and nicely decorated. Beautiful house. Overall was clean as long as didn't look behind or under bed. Chocolates on bed-nice touch and sweet but not necessary. Staff were really nice. Food was fabulous and could make your own eggs/omelet in kitchen area-like a buffet. Great fun talking with others who were... More

We recently stayed 5 nights at Hale Maluhia and enjoyed the hosts, the accomodations and the general comfort of being there. The house and surrounding landscape is attractive and peaceful. It is NOT flashy, action-packed, or sophisticated - it was exactly what we were looking for. The price is also reasonable. Rooms are comfortable and of average size. Also there... More
