My husband and I stayed at the Garni Gruber for a week in September. Our room was spacious and clean with a lovely en suite bathroom and seating area, and was great value for money. Breakfast was more than adequate - cereal, yoghurt, eggs, cold meats and cheeses, preserves - everything you could need. Franz and Erika were very helpful - Franz especially was a great help when it came to planning our cycling trips, very knowledgeable about the local area. St Johann itself was a pleasant 5 minute walk along the river (there was a large supermarket about 1 minute walk away) with plenty of shops and restaurants and a great bus and train service. Bicycle hire was very reasonable (shop beside the main bridge over the river) and there were plenty of cycle trails of all levels of difficulty to choose from. All in all a great location for walking, cycling and visiting other towns in the area - especially if you're using public transport. more
