We stayed here two years in a row and are motorcyclists. We really liked the location and were in walking distance to many restaurants and convenience stores. Our second-year stay was spoiled when we found out that we had been slapped with a fraudulant $200 smoking-the-room charge. Absolutely NO smoking occured in our motel room while we were there. I... I am very sorry someone in this guest's party smoked in our motel room and incurred a fine. She says she has asthma, but she also told me her husband smokes. She is the ONLY person that required a fine during the whole season. We are a totally non-smoking motel so we were unable to rent the room for a... More

We spent 3 days in the Black Hills, and this hotel was close to every thing. We walked to restaurants,a winery,A VFW, shops and the main attractions were only minutes away by car. No hassles with traffic, crowds etc. When we discovered outr Sprint phone service does not work in South Dakota :) the desk staff had us use theirs to contact... More

Stayed here during the busy Sturgis Motorcycle Rally week. Staff was very friendly and helpful with any of our minor requests. One staff member even took the time to temporarily unlock the orange juice machine one night so my wife could have a drink with her aspirins she needed to take. The daily complimentary breakfast was simple and delicious. This... More

Our stay here was close to perfect. The staff was great, especially Ada. She went out of her way to help us find everything we were looking for and needed. I will recommend this place. More

The motel was old and needed updating. The breakfast included was nothing we would eat. More

Upon arrival at check-in we were told they had overbooked their hotel and was upgrading us to a room with a jacuzzi at no extra charge! The front desk clerk named "Jan" was so friendly and advised us they have just baked chocolate chip cookies in the other room with refreshments. All of the front desk clerks were so informative... Reserved hotel over the phone and when we got there the person had booked TWO rooms, changing the spelling in one booking. SO beware of this. Room was so so, did not stock with amenities (had broken soap, broken coffee pot etc) I am a handicapped person and we wanted to park in the handicap spot but a motorcycle was... More

What a pleasant greeting! We entered Econo Lodge Custer and were met by the nicest, friendliest lady I have ever met :-) Wish I could remember her name ~ that dear lady had cookies in the oven, told us to please come back in a few minutes to enjoy one! What a country! She checked us in, offered any assistance... More

A friend and I liked this well enough to make it our base for sightseeing in the Black Hills. It appears that Choice Hotels has bought some old places (this was a Travelodge) and renovated them successfully. We paid $105/night for two queen size beds and had plenty of room to stretch out and watch tv after a day of... More

This was a 1 1/2 star place and if you expect anything more you will be sadly disappointed. The AC was cold but noisy. Beds lumpy. The hotel had a fresh coat of paint and minor updates to the bathroom but still the same 70's fixtures. This place really neads a total overhaul. I got gouged $119 on short notice... More
