Spent a night in one of Blue Bell Lodge's cabins - had a fire in the fireplace and there was a light breeze in the pine trees overhead. When we got up the next morning, seven big bison were bedded down and chewing their cuds near our cabin. Without getting too close, we were able to load up and (reluctantly)... More

We stayed at Blue Bell Lodge September 26, 2011. We had previously spent the night in Custer, SD and had awaken at 3:00 am so we could eat breakfast and get in line for the "Buffalo Roundup" early that morning in Custer State Park. Yes, the roundup was worth it. We had a very busy day and by the time... More

We picked Blue Bell Lodge because of the recommendations on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. It is everything advertised. Clean cozy cabins in a beautiful wilderness paradise. More

We stayed at the Blue Bell Lodge in Sept 2011. There was a buffalo that just hung around the cabins and never bothered anyone. I wouldn't recommend getting too close though. The cabin was ok. I guess you can't expect too much from the beds. The food at the lodge was wonderful. We had the Lodge Chicken, the Walleye, and... More

We chose this place because it had handicap facilitiiies and we could have our own log cabin with areal wood burning fireplace. We loved our own "Little House in the Woods". The Park is so great that we think it should be a National Park!! I'm afraid that many travelers will not get to experience this park because they will... More

We heart Custer State Park and Blue Bell Lodge. Our housekeeping cabin was perfect. Quiet, private, COMFORTABLE, and clean. It was the best night's sleep of our entire week-long trip. We wish we could have stayed longer. The staff were incredibly helpful. We had a "guest" from the woods hiding out in our cabin and the handyman took care of... More

The Title says it all. This place is in the heart of Custer State Park and you definitely can see this. We actually pulled up to our cabin after an enjoyable Chuck Wagon hayride dinner to see an actual Buffalo just 10 yards from our front door. The front office was quick to arrive to make sure that everything was... More

We loved it. Do not stay here if you are expecting a modern accommodation. These are cabins in the woods. They are very comfortable and have air, some have kitchens. Coffee pot is provided but little else. Housekeeping was great. Plenty of towels etc Staff very helpful and friendly. Beautiful location. One cabin even came with a buffalo hanging around.... More

These cabins are very nice--high ceilings, large bedroom/living room, with fireplace, kitchenette and bathroom. Well-furnished, with a cozy feel. It is basically a very nice stand-alone hotel room. It is in the middle of a beautiful state park, although it is a little too far away from other Black Hills attractions. It's only about 20 miles from Mount Rushmore, but... More

After a week in south dakota at various overpriced hotels, motels, and even campgrounds it was a unexpected delight to stay in a housekeeping cabin at bluebell lodge. The cabin was clean and cozy. The surroundings were beautiful. The staff was friendly. I wish we could've stayed more than one night. Custer State Park has so much to offer that... More
