If you enjoy nature. If you want a central location in the best part of the Black Hills. If you have kids or young adults who need to be active. If you are tired of giant megacondo enclaves. If you want hot Starbucks in the middle of nowhere. If you need a cheezy buffalo shirt. This place has a beach... More

Cabin was clean, with updated bathrooms, new heater and satellite based Internet... Yet still a rustic style with plenty of privacy and nature! Everyone there was welcoming and hospitable. More

As a family of 4, we stayed in a sleeping cabin (no kitchenette). It was very clean, simple and comfortable. It is a small cabin but we stayed for 4 nights with no problems. Of all the places in the park, we preferred Legion Lake because the cabins are away from the main road. There is also the small lake... More

We booked a cabin that ostensibly sleeps 5 for just the 2 us - because we wanted to have a good view of the lake & got a great view. Only 2 of the cabins are actually on the lake, so be sure to confirm view if this is important to you. Cabin was clean & the furniture (hewn trees)... More

We stayed in a 5-person Housekeeping cabin (#11) on Legion Lake. The cabin was very pricey - $175 a night. It was two rooms and private bathrooom – a sun room with a twin bed and a double bed, then a larger room with kitchenette (mini fridge, stove top burners, sink, microwave, toaster, and 4-cup coffee pot with coffee and... I realize this is one of the hottest vacation spots in the US (Custer State Park) but I still feel our cabin was overpriced. The only place to sit down was at a small table and chair set with only three chairs and the cabin was supposed to be for up to 5 people. The beds were so soft I... More

This was going to be our splurge night on our week long trip to the hills. We stayed in a 5 person housekeeping cabin. Paying $175 rate, once all fees are figured in, the cost was $190. For that amount of money you hope for a nice stay. I made reservations in January for our July stay, so you would... More

We stayed for a long weekend at the Legion Lake - a great location in a beautiful park. The wildlife right outside our cabin door was truly amazing! We had a sleeping cabin with 2 queens for our family of four - it was tight, so we did not spend a lot of time at the cabin. Each cabin has... More
