We just stayed three nights there, and were very happy about our choice. First, this hotel (and all hotels in El Remate) is about half an hour closer to the ruins of Tikal than those in Flores. So that's an hour less in the car per day - fantastic. It is also conveniently located to the VERY worthwhile ruins of... More

A very friendly hotel with clean spacious rooms but mediocre food. Contrary to some on this page I came away without any problems apart from the damned insects. But yes...this is jungle!!! More

Where to begin. We checked in late at night after enduring a long day on the highway due to a traffic accident that stalled traffic for several hours. The food was blah and several of our group were sick the next day, more fell ill the following evening of the next day and I was one of the four that... More

My group and I could not have picked a better place to stay during our recent trip to Tikal. I knew this place was going to be great the moment we stepped into the main lobby and each one of us (8 total in the group) was handed a refreshing complementary beverage. A nice appetizer of the great service we... More

We came to this hotel late at night and left early for Tikal ruins so we didn't spend any of the first day actually there. When we returned after our tour of the FABULOUS ruin site we relaxed by the pool (which needed a cleaning) and then had dinner. The food was mediocre and a dozen of our group actually... More

The grounds and location of the Camino Real Tikal are the draw for this property. My room was on the second floor in building 5 and had great views of the lake. There was a small balcony off of the room, but for most of the day it was too warm to sit on it. The room itself was clean... More

We loved this hotel--it had everything we needed--a huge gorgeous room with a view of Lake Peten, free use of bicycles and kayaks, a gorgeous pool, amazing grounds, a free sunset cruise on the lake, and an amazing breakfast. This hotel is only a 20 minute drive to Tikal (we rented a car in Belize and drove there, which we... More

This was a harsh comedown after Camino Real Antigua. No help on arrival, either with bags or directions. Motel 6 level rooms, reeking of cheap disinfectant. Mediocre food in the restaurant, wine bottles with dirty labels. This hotel is busy destroying the Camino Real brand… On the other hand – it is the best hotel in Tikal. Our friends stayed... More

I went 3 days with my 4 year old son driving from Guatemala City to visit the ruins of Tikal. I decided to stay at this hotel since it is near to the park and is located at the border of Peten-Itza. Indeed we had an old fashioned room with a TV with just 6 channels. Some pieces of wall... More

We stayed at this hotel on a visit to the area to see the Tikal ruins. The hotel is, by many people's accounts (people on trip advisor, locals, and people I met travelling), the best hotel in the area. Having said that, it is a bit outdated, as far as the rooms and bathrooms go. Despite it being outdated, I... More
