disappointed, disgusting,  we arrived at the Club after 7-hour journey. Our guide was booked us to staying over night in the Club Hill and  informed that the Club where we stay very old (old fashion). My husband would love to see the British relics still at an altitude of 6204 thousand feet above sea level. I feel little bit worried,... More

I was appalled and disgusted by this bizarre out of touch with reality venue. I arrived at the Hill Club for lunch along with 6 ladies and my 74 year old friend Chandra. I was immediately informed that he would not be allowed to lunch with us, presumably because of his colour. Chandra insisted that we went ahead without him... More

What a surreal place. An almost complete throw back to the colonial past and perhaps dare I say it some of the worst aspects of it (Tour guide was not welcome inside amongst other quite bizarre rules). Anyway, after managing to sneak inside it was as though you are in a fully functioning museum of old furniture, paintings and artifacts... More

The Hill Club offers you an experience beyond the usual. The five course dinner when you, if you are a man, wear jacket and tie followed by a drink at the open fire, is great. I really enjoyed the onion soup! The rooms are comfortable and the warm water bottle in the bed reminds you of times past. The garden... More

We were excited to stay here as in our guide book it sounded so unique. I don't have an issue with the moth-eaten hunting trophies or the eerily dark billiards room - they are indeed quirky and in an odd kind of way, charming. What I did object to was the way our driver/guide was treated. He had a message... More

Very old style club atmosphere, austere reception on arrival, numerous rules - not able to take 6-year old into either bar. Room and bathroom very large, dated but clean and sufficient. No pool, no free wi-fi, raining and nothing to do! Town not up to much, but good designer outdoor clothes market. Dinner was poor, average service in casual dining... More

Arrived and the duty manager looked down at me when I arrived and said I could eat in the casual dining room-showing... More

The reviews here are almost all accurate. I too arrived with a local friend and despite a sniffy attitude we both had dinner there. But the place is class ridden of not racist. If you need to see the worst of Scotland in 1950 this may be the place. Amazing that colonial attitudes are long gone in the UK, but... More

Its like stepping back in time 50+ years during colonial rule in sri lanka. They try very hard to maintain their antiquated rules and it can be frustrating i.e. not allowed in reading room (only place with wifi) after 7pm without a coat and tie but for a night or two its well worth the hastle to get a hot... You have to see it to believe it. A cross between an English / Scottish Country hotel, a gentlemans club and a golf club, stuck in a time warp in the highlands of Sri Lanka. The whole experience is slightly surreal but wonderfully enjoyable - to eat in the members dining room you must borrow a jacket and tie, which... More
