Raheem Residency at Alleppey Beach, one hour south of Cochin, is an 1868 colonial property which was passionately restored in a classic, Indian style in 2003 by a small Indo-European private limited company. It is now recognized by the Tourism Dept of India as a genuine Heritage Hotel of India. Originally built by an Englishman, it was the home of the Raheems, an eminent Alleppey family, for one hundred years. Expect an intimate personalized service that respects your privacy in a sophisticated Indian setting with echoes of the Raj.

We absolutely loved the relaxed feel of this place. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The pool area is just brilliant, a real sun trap. The food was great too. We had a beautiful room. Yes there is a flyover just outside which is such a shame. But it did not detract from a fabulous stay. Great if you want a little escape from the business and having a bar is a huge bonus in this part of the world.

I did not get to stay at Raheem Residency. I was already in India when I cancelled my reservation. I was diagnosed with bronchitis and decided to cut short my trip. The hotel waived my fees even though the deadline for cancellation has past. Hotels with such values must be pleasant to stay with.

Good food and large rooms but need to be maintained and added fresh components. The antique look and feel is good but cleaner upholstery and drapes would be well appreciated. There’s a beautiful pool that even little kids can enjoy. Good and tasty food, we loved the beef and parottas.

Best place for people who love a heritage stay by the beach. You will find yourself at ease . The property has an old touch to it which we loved. The cleaning staff does a great job. In total, the ambience, the food, stay and the location are one of the best 👍. It is a fine example of how to preserve a heritage property and offer a memorable experience to others.👏

Nice hotel! It was a great pleasure staying at the Raheem residency. We have enjoyed the traditional Kerala House and the walking distance to the sea. All staff was kind and helpful. A spacial thanks goes to our kind and very attentive waiter Leen!

This is Indian hospitality at its finest. The staff is so warm and friendly and I felt so looked after in my time here. The hotel is beautiful, every touch is so thoughtful and elegant. The bed was incredibly comfortable, I ended up sleeping great at night and taking daily naps. Lovely hotel pool and nice showers in the room. Both the cafe downstairs and the restaurant upstairs were lovely and the food was excellent. I just cannot say enough about the staff though. They were just the warmest, friendliest, most caring and genuine people in a country full of them. They arranged my trip through the back waters and the on-site massage was also heavenly. I would definitely come back and stay here again, and longer next time. Thank you Raheem Residency for making my trip so special!

We had booked a last few days here to be beside the sea and enjoy a bit of relaxation after travelling around. We were in one of the 4 old colonial rooms which were very spacious, with big high beds ( stools provided to get into bed!,). The rooms are all furnished in old dark coloured traditional wood and quite dark but this helped keep the temperature down. The only negative point was with very high ceilings and control of mosquitoes was difficult and provision of a net might have been helpful. This is the only place we were bitten despite staying on the back waters, in plantations etc. The pool was small but clean with plenty of beds and good towels. We ate meals in the hotel as choice was varied and prices very reasonable plus they had a public bar next door which was busy with locals and also good value. Unlike many places we have encountered there seemed to be very few staff around at any given point in time but this did not detract from our stay. Unfortunately parallel to the front of the hotel and almost directly above it is a brand new flyover which will become a major road and will therefore probably be both noisy and add to air pollution. At the time of staying (Feb 2020) the date of opening was not clear but this, I am sure will have a detrimental effect on this lovely old style hotel. The staff we saw were lovely and helpful and we enjoyed our 3 nights there. The beach is directly opposite the hotel and is very large, cleaner than I had read in previous reviews, the sea was warm but I only paddled and not many people appeared to be swimming when we visited. It is a popular place for locals at sunset and we enjoyed walking to a beach bar, Cafe Catamaran for an evening drink (no alcohol served there though) to watch the sunset.

I stayed here for four nights, and I had a great stay. The room was spacious, had some charm and the a/c was brilliant (a must in India). The breakfast was basic but various options and was fine. The restaurant for dinner was busy every night, and the food good. I did not use the pool but a lovely area. I cannot compare to other places, but this is clean, safe and has a lovely charm to it. Location is excellent as 20m from the beach, and easy access to everything else. I have read comments about the staff being rude, but I did not find that to be the case.

We spent 3 nights at Raheem Residency. Very quiet, the speed road is not active, and they don’t work on It. Résidence de charme indeed. Beautiful furnitures. Swimming pool nice and very clean. Good restaurant, correct prices. Des bières et du vin aussi, moins cher cependant au bar à côté de l’hôtel. Ne comptez pas aller vous baigner à la mer.

The hotel has nice theme and is comfortable. The place was clean with basic amenities. Right opposite the beach. The rooms on the beach side are noisy as there is constant flow of traffic on the main road. It would be nice to see hotel use more environment-friendly quality local products and be more active with recycling and moving to carbon-negative. Also, include some vegan options.
