This was our second stay in Emerald Isle, and loved it just as much this time. It is a beautiful, peaceful place, and we loved our local walks, the boat trips, and just being in such a serene yet interesting environment. The Granary room was very comfortable, and the food was good. More

My night at Emerald Isle was terrific: some of the best food, sights, and conversation of my time in India. The room and outdoor bathroom were very special. I highly recommend listening to the toddy tappers singing in the evening. What a special place! More

This delightful locale was a drive and a boat ride from Alappuzha, but well worth the trip. It is on a small island and the hotel is on 1000 acres of rice paddies and is considered a national historic site. We especially enjoyed the many gardens and trees, including the coconut palms that are tapped for toddy. There are only... More

We stayed here as a family in December after a very long flight from the UK. It was the perfect place to recharge our batteries before we embarked on our tour of Kerala. The staff were lovely, very welcoming and attentive - and seemed to know exactly how to make our stay a fabulous experience. Emerald Isle is a traditional... More

The best way to arrive here is after an overnight stay, on a houseboat. We were dropped at the gated entrance to this heritage villa, where we were greeted by the attentive Sam. We had arrived early but preparations were immediately underway to make our room available. The food is fabulous and as we were the only guests for lunch... More

I can only echo what has been said in the other highly positive reviews of this place. It is all entirely true. The owners go out of their way to make it an unforgettable stay. Truly worthwhile place to visit, come rain or shine (we had rain and can only imagine how beautiful it would be in shine!). Food was... More

The Jobs are a wonderful host. That is the least I can say. And that indeed is the biggest asset of the property. Set across a canal, one has to go on a boat to this place and that is where your mesmerizing experience kicks off. There are a total of 5 rooms (of three different types) in all and... More

Emerald Isle is far away from the typical resort. It's am historic farm house transformed in a little resort with just 5 rooms. I was there with my family during low season and we were the only guests. Nevertheless the owner and his family provided us of everything we needed including great history news and very good typical Kerala food.... More

What a lovely spot to spend a few days in the backwaters! A great, historic home very nicely transformed into a comfortable small homestay. We loved the food, the friendly and personalised service and the relaxing gardens. Emerald Island was a great location to relax and use as a base for seeing the backwaters. The Ayurvedic massage was also wonderful. More

From the moment we were transported from the busy streets of Alleppey to the homestay, we knew we made the right choice. Staffmember Tom paddled us in the dugout canoe across the river to the farm estate where we spent the next four days. Vijo, Tom, Sam, and the rest of the staff offered wonderful hospitality throughout our stay. We... More
