Nelpura Homestay is just about as perfect as anyone could expect.
The location in a tiny village surrounded by canals and the backwaters is idyllic, and the hospitality on offer at the Homestay is simply outstanding. We were made to feel like honoured guests of the family, and got to see what real village life is at first hand.

This gives you a completely different experience of the backwaters, compared to a house boat on the larger canals. You arrive by canoe, though a small canal, and can walk along the small waterways, around the village or borrow bikes to make a longer trip, which gives you a much better idea of the life of people who live in...

We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights homestay at Nelpura., our first introduction to the backwaters. We were warmly welcomed by Salimma with excellent food, and with Joseph hovering in the background to attend to our every need. We particularly enjoyed the dinner conversations with Professor Chakko, learning more about India and generally solving world problems!
Our evening walks and our...

After 2 nights on a houseboat we were wondering whether we were right to have booked a further 2 nights in the backwaters. But Kerala Connections got this right (like the rest of the holiday). It was a completely different experience of backwaters life, not to be missed. We were transferred onto a canoe to travel down a small canal...

The family food and location were in equal measure top class. We spent 3 days over New Year and were treated to superb home cooked food, fantastic warmth and hospitality from Dr Chakko, Salimma and their lovely family and enjoyed walks, canoe trips (including in a downpour) and just relaxing on the verandah outside our rooms. Highly recommended!
