If you're looking for proximity to Great Basin NP, this is a good place to stay. Not much ambiance here. It's an RV park with a few motel rooms at the back of the park. It was hard to make reservations as they only answer the phone between 4-8pm and are slow to answer e-mail inquiries. There's a bar as... More

Very nice place to stay. They even offered free wifi. Bed was really comfortable.

The hotel room was small, but clean and comfortable. had a few of the amenities we have grown used to, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, and tv (never turned the tv on myself). the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a peaceful place to stay in baker, I would suggest the whispering elms to anyone.

We stayed 2 nights at the Whispering Elms...before and after a 3 night camping stay at Wheeler Peak Campground in the National Park. I must say we were surprised how nice it was considering the location and some of the TA reviews. It's really an RV Campground (but there were only 2 or 3 RV's there) with a row of... More

Rooms are small but adequate who goes to a National park to see the room. Had the convenience of wi-fi, microwave, coffee pot and fridge in the room. The hotel manager/bartender/gardener was very friendly and helpful with local info. The locals we met were also fun and entertaining. Would certainly stay here on a return trip.

Simple yet very nice place to stay. Nestled under a bunch of trees which somehow seem to attract a whole array of bird species out there in the middle of hours of desert driving. Sat outside our room just watching and listening to them all interact. Service was great and met a ton of locals up at the neighboring bar... More

We stayed in the motel units at The Whispering Elms, Ours had full bed and a twin bed. Hotels are limited in this vicinity, so you have few choices. This place met my expectations. It's no Vegas resort at all, but did provide a safe, conveneient place to spend two nights while we hiked the trails at the National Park.... More

We recently camped at the Whispering Elms campground while visiting Great Basin National Park. We had originially planned on camping within the park, but the park doesn't offer hook ups and since the sites are first come, first served, we didn't want to risk not being able to get a site. Baker does not have many options for anything -... More

We stayed at Whispering Elms in July and August 2010 and both times were treated to an enjoyable experience. Clean, quiet rooms with charm, refrig and microwave, adequate parking and a good night's sleep, all for a reasonable price. Couldn't ask for more in this little, out-of-the-way town. We won't hesitate to stay here again.

Lodging is very limited in Baker, the closet village to Great Basin National Park. Whispering Elms' property contains a RV area (stones with alot of large trees for shade), restaurant/bar and 6-unit motel. Our room contained a double bed and twin bed, two "living room" type chairs, TV, microwave, small desk w/chair and a room-size air conditioner unit, Sink is... More
