here's why: 1. the owner/propietor was unfriendly... she didn't even bother to look up from her laptop to say hello... not when we arrived, or at breakfast, or when we departed. Instead she talked over us as if we weren't even there. 2. Breakfasts: Terrible. First morning we were served waffles with syrup, which when poured unleashed mold slime onto... More

My stay at Escape Guesthouse was a great experience. The owner and staff were friendly and and helpful. I had to extend my stay without notice because my wife was hospitalized unexpectedly and the owner was gracious and accommodating. I also met some very nice guests who offered to help me with my wife when she was released from the... More

We were celebrating our 40th anniversary and visiting our daughter who lives 2 blocks away. We love NYC and had easy access, by subway, to the places in The West Village and Greenwich Village which we enjoy and to our daughter in Boerum Hill who we love. In addition our hostess was delightful and very attractive.

We chose to stay here rather than a hotel in the area because of the neighborhood being close walking distance to so many restaurants and more homey. We were not disappointed. very clean and the staff there was excellent. They were very accommodating and answer many questions we had about getting around the area and Manhattan. We would gladly stay... More

My family consisting of my husband and I, two of our married children and 5 grandchildren ranging in age from 1 to 6 spent the Christmas holiday at Escape Guesthouse. We had a wonderful stay there due to a very welcoming and gracious atmosphere and more than adequate spaces that met everyone's needs. With two other children living nearby in... More

We spent four days in August at Escape and thoroughly enjoyed our time. We had the entire apartment on the 2nd floor. The kitchen was clean and well-equipped and we were able to make meals and lunches to take on our excursions into Manhattan. Breakfast was simple and either the host, Elizabeth, or her assistant, Becky, was there to greet... More

This guesthouse is great. It's like a normal person's apartment and is in walking distance of tons of cool stuff and restaurants. Boerum Hill is fun. Elizabeth is real calm and nice. I think this place gives you a great idea of what it's like to actually live in Brooklyn if you have a good job.

For the price this place is disgraceful! I have read previous reviews and they are either very positive or to the other extreme very negative. It seems like this place is not very consistent. Our experience was negative. 1. The website is not a good representation of this place 2. not welcoming at all 3. seems unkept and gives the... More

When we arrived at this B&B, the host was not welcoming and very oddly dressed. Fake snakeskin leggings with a belly shirt. Common areas were dark and cluttered and very dirty. She did give us a choice of rooms, and we picked the best of the bunch, but frankly they were all sub-par and dirty. The bathroom sink still had... More

Staying at the Escape Guesthouse proved to be one of the best decisions we had ever made! My husband and I were in town for an event and decided to stay at this BnB. What a little piece of heaven! The bnb sits on a beuatifully shaded street that is ideal for sitting on the stoop and watching bicyclists go... More
