My husband made reservations for a weekend getaway to the Summit as a surprise and after reading the reviews on this site, I was a little bit nervous. I'm now happy to say that I really enjoyed staying at the hotel. As other reviewers noted, the frills that many Americans expect from chain hotels are not here, but the historic... more

The Summit has so much potential and is in a beautiful location but it all stops there. I noted as we parked that the tower was boarded up thinking maybe they were under construction but I think it is just the manager's or owner's lackadaisical running of the establishment. There was no bell man so we lugged eveything to our... more

We should have known from the boarded-up tower windows that this "historic inn" was not what it claimed to be. We chose it for its listing on the Falling Water website, but beautiful Falling Water should be ashamed of the association with this dump. Except for its handsome Arts and Crafts lobby, everything about the Summit Inn is second-rate and... more

I have asthma and am stuck here for 4 days - am seriously considering checking out and eating the cost. DO NOT STAY HERE if you have allergies - its awful. I'm used to historic hotels like the Palmer House and the Mayflower. This more closely resembles the no tell motel. This was recommended by the group putting on the... more

Where to begin. The hotel is a dump and it's abundantly clear ownership has not put a nickel into the place for decades. Room was musty and probably remodeled in the 1970s (does that count as historic?). Indoor pool reeked of mildew (you could see black mold coming out of the cracks between ceiling tiles!). Outdoor pool is not heated... more

When we arrived, we were given one of their "best" rooms. The toilet was stained brown and yellow, and when we tried to shower; brown water came out. Completely disgusting. We reserved the room for two nights and when we left for the day after our first night, housekeeping cleaned the room as if we checked out and threw away... more

My friend and I decided to take off on a last minute, well needed break. We drove from Baltimore loaded with golf clubs, bikes and gear so we could be prepared for what ever we felt like doing at the time. We off loaded the bikes in Ohiopyle Pa. and rode along the river it was fantastic. When we got... more

My husband and I enjoyed our three nights at The Historic Inn. It is a nice place to relax on the deck or to play a board game or read a book. Close to Fallingwater, historic sites and rafting. It's a large, older inn with basic amenities and lots of charm. Breakfast was good and so was the jacuzzi. Not... more

My husband and I traveled from Indianapolis to Western PA for our 25th anniversary and to visit Falling Water and Kentuck Knob. Both homes are fantastic and are worth the trip. Found the Summit Inn on the Falling Water website and decided it would be nice to stay somewhere with charm. Arrived Sunday afternoon and had no problems checking in.... more

Very disappointed. Overpriced. Dark, dank , dated and musty. Awful old bedding, peeling paint, bugs in room and not well maintained. The bathroom rug was ragged, there was hair in the tub and the toilet bowl was stained yellow. It just did not feel clean. I don't care if it's historic, FallingWater should take this hotel off it's website. There's... more
