This was our third Thankgiving family holiday spent as guests of the Prude Ranch. We come here for family rest and relaxation. The staff treat you as family; from the front desk, the corral staff, the cafeteria staff, and the camp staff. The cabin accommodations are very rustic...no televisions, no electronic games; little/to no cell signal...just the peace and tranquility... More

Every Spring Break for the last fifteen years or so, we have packed up the van and spent the week or at least part of the week at the Ranch. The Ranch has changed over the years, but the Prude family has worked very hard to retain the feeling of belonging once you get there. I hope that never changes.... More

My family had a wonderful time at Historic Prude Ranch. There are two historical markers on the property. The food was excellent and plentiful. They serve all you can eat buffets....We also had the meal with the chicken breast...Prude Ranch Baked Chicken, they called it. My family thought it was excellent. The pool is refreshing and the horseback riding is... More

The Bad: Old, caved in mattresses---Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner served on styrofoam plates (!)----$14.95 for 1/3 chicken breast w/ cream of mushroom soup poured on top---No updating of rooms since...1970s?---No usual dude ranch activities...no campfires, cookouts, cowboy stories, smores, etc---- We stayed in room 42. The room was large but well worn. Bring your own shampoo and hair drier! No... More

Our daughter took part in a two week summer camp with lots of horseback riding at Prude Ranch which she absolutely loved (Can I go back for the whole summer next year? she asked.) My husband and I stayed over night in one of their cabins when we went back to pick her up. It was basic, but very clean,... More

My family (husband, 8 yr. old daughter, 6 yr. old son) and I stayed three nights at Prude during spring break. We enjoyed the peace and solitude at the ranch. We spent lots of time on the porch watching our kids collect treasures (rocks, sticks, etc.) and run around. We stayed in cabin 20 and the accomodations were pretty basic:... More

Total relaxation!! Prude Ranch is not the place to stay if you have to be pampered to have a good time (such as a big hot tub and gourmet food). This is West Texas at its finest. Historic, rustic, beautiful and peaceful. The staff and other visitors were extremely friendly and helpful. The location is central to a great number... More

The Prude Ranch is a one-of-a-kind experience for anyone. There is really something for all ages--from the very young to the "over 80 crowd." Just sitting on the porch of your living area is worth the trip. This was our second time to the Prude, and it was just as good as the first time. We have taken friends and... More

Highlights: Our Room was wonderful for a family of five. We stayed in "The Spanish Room" and it had a king bed and two sets of bunk beds. It also had two shower stalls - very interesting feature. The room was great. Rustic, but nice. The interaction with the summer camp kids was great. As we had young kids, the... More
