We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Duke of York while visiting our son at the US Coast Guard Training Center. We do alot of traveling along the east coast of the US and the atmosphere at The Duke of York was in keeping with an appreciation of the spirit of America, a welcomed change from the sterile chain hotels.... The rooms were very clean. A little "dated" but otherwise nice. The private balcony made for a nice extra touch. Had it not been pouring rain it would have been perfect for coffee in the morning. The beach, the dock, shops and pub just a few steps away make for a perfect weekend getaway. More

This is our 4th year staying at The Duke of York. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The Manager is a lovely woman who makes sure everyone feels welcomed. The view of the beach, river and bridge are simply beautiful. Great place to relax. More

I stay here because of the location to the Yorktown Pub. I have stage here on and off for twenty some odd years and the place never changes. read other reviews but needed to find out for my self with out going through the stay i will say that the rooms are in need of major repair and i mean major toilets leaking ect. The mgr is very rude. It is not worth the 125.00 per night that we paid. I have had nicer rooms at comfort inns.... More

The room reminded me of a 1970's BOQ room. The carpet was stained. I had to repair the toilet twice. The sink drained slowly. The old TV picture tube was about to fail.
