After a long flight from Sydney (Australia) we were extremely excited that we finally got to our hotel. Yes..United Airlines lost our baggage but these days -whats new!! So we checked into what looked liked a very cool hotel -rooms stunk of ciggarettes (being a smoker myself i could ALMOST bear the stench). Unites Airlnes finally tracked our luggage but... more

My experience with the Gershwin left me and my sister pretty disappointed. The first night we were there, it was so cold. But that's okay, we put on the extra blankets. The next, the central heating pipes were rattling, hissing and sounding as if they were about to explode. We're from a warm region so I'm not too familiar with... more

Great Hotel in New York. It is very clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. It is centrally located. Easy access to shopping and dining. I would stay again. more

My Cousin visiting from Ireland to Boston joined me for 3 fun filled days in NY. We stayed at the Gershwin Hotel in the flatiron district off of 5th Ave. The Gershwin was 11 out of 10 across the board. The over all decorum of the hotel, the staff, the room, and most of all the art was top notch... more

I can not tell you how much I enjoyed the room and my stay. They upgraded me to a better room due to a reservation error at another hotel and it was a beautiful suite. more

It's 150$ a night for a hotel in the middle of Manhattan. Really, this can make up for a lot of other faults. The decor there is very impressive, although placing too much emphasis on being trendy. Nevertheless, it creates a better impression walking in than Yet Another Generic Hotel Lobby. An additional bonus is that horns jut out from... more

We stayed at The Gershwin twice in October - at the beginning and at the end of our Honeymoon. We paid up front via Expedia. As everyone else has noted, the Hotel appearance is very eccentric and ‘funky’. Our room during our first stay was on the grotty side of shabby. It was in need of a total re-fit and... more

For the price in New York City, nice little hotel. Funky decor, artsy influence, and just plain cool. My room was surprisingly reasonable in size, even though I'd been warned by a friend that it would be tiny. It perfectly suited me. It was clean, and the bathroom was obviously updated and was also very clean. They have a big... more

Don't let the trendy facade and artsy modern website fool you. This hotel has definitely had it's best days. As soon as you step in, it's dark, dated and unpleasant. The room was ok, but the toilet was broken and staff rude and unhelpful. Locationwise it's great. Overpriced for the value you get. more

The Gershwin sells itself as being a bit wacky - true there is a lot of fake art stuck up and an interesting facade to the hotel but the rooms are tiny and the sound insulation is poor - plus the bathrooms require a bit of contortionism to negotiate. But if all you want is a bed for the night... more
