I stayed at the Harlem Flouphose for 2 nights at the early December - and enjoyed every minute of it! My room was enourmous and comfortable, everything very clean and the bed great! Traveling a female alone, I still felt quite safe to came back alone at 10-11pm (from the subway sation). The location is great - two subways stations... More

We just spent 5 nights at the Harlem Flophouse. It is a very beautiful home and I was glad we decided to stay. However, it is not really a bed and breakfast. It reminds me of a upscale lodging house or hostle. The bed and bathroom are very clean. The bed mattress is uncomfortable, but I am use to my... More

We had a wonderful time staying in the Harlem Flophouse. We traveled in a group of 8 and got the whole house to ourselves. The beds were very comfortable and the shower very nice! We could recommend this beautiful house to anyone coming to NYC and wanting to stay in en unique place! Thank u Rene! More

this place is a great example of living history. it is a beautifully restored period town house. no air conditions (fan seemed fine to me) and no tv. like walking into the past. even the digital radio in the room was a vintage looking model. very comfortable bed. safe neighbourhood. definitely a real gem. i stayed here for three nights... The Harlem Flophouse - with its authentic period decor and comfortable vibe - was the ideal base for exploring New York. Arriving from Australia we were exhausted and jetlagged - collapsing into a spacious four poster in an impressively cool room was exactly what was required. The local gardens about Harlem were unexpected greenery and beautiful places to relax. When... More

Our stay at the Harlem flophouse was eveything we could have hoped for. Not only were the staff and facilities top notch, the owner Rene advised us to come and see him play at the local blues club and it turned out to be one of the highlights of the trip. As a music fan, having the chance to see... More

This is a very nice alternative to a hotel, and I would stay here again on my next trip, except in the heat of summer, as there is no AC. The Flophouse is nicely furnished, the room I had was huge compared to any room I had in New York, and the room and shared bathroom was very clean. It... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Harlem Flophouse for a just a weekend and we had a great time; I hope we could've stayed longer. Rene--the owner--puts a lot of love in what he does. Before we left he e-mailed us instructions on how to get there from all major airports, train and bus stations, and once we were... More

This is my second time staying at the Harlem Flophouse. I stayed again for two nights. Compared to average NYC hotel rates this is a bargain if your intention is to simply have a comfortable bed in which to sleep on a quiet street and in a location conveniently near the phenomenal NY subway system. It only takes a few... More
