The staff here is wonderful. I lost my cell phone outside of the hotel and a hotel employee, Manav, found the phone, went out of his way to find the owner (me) and get the phone back in my hands! Going out of his way to help me is typical of the Standard staff and I highly recommend this property. More

We stayed 3 nights at the Standard in East Village and were very happy with our stay. The beds were soft and comfortable so we were able to sleep well, which is key when you're walking around a lot during day. The staff was very professional and responsive. I think the best part was the location however... we were able... More

Stayed 4 nights in April. I had booked over 3 months in advance and despite requesting a room with a view 'up Manhattan' I was not allocated one. I had paid the supplement for a corner room and that is worth the money but do your best to get one with a better view. We arrived late due to it... More

This use to be the Cooper Square Hotel and is now a Standard. Stayed in a room with 2 double beds. Just wonderful and just big enough. My favorite thing was the bathtub. Perfectly shaped for relaxing. The beds are super comfy and the view was spectacular. WE could see the Freedom Tower very clearly to the left and the... More

One of the main benefits of staying at the Standard East Village is definitely the location. From here, you'll be within walking distance to several of Manhattan's most interesting neighborhoods: SoHo, Lower East Side, Chinatown, West Village and of course, the always genuinely vibrant and food friendly favorite, the East Village. Up until late last year (2011), this was the... More

We chose this hotel to be close to our son, who lives in East Village. The rooms are very small, but I think that's "standard" for NYC! We had a corner room, with two walls of windows...great to wake up and see the Empire State Building in the distance! The king sized bed and pillows were VERY comfortable (a plus... More

My husband and I booked a regular king room but on a high floor. We were upgraded to a larger room, but on the 4th floor, so there was a bit of street noise but worth it for the extra square footage. As it was our room wasn't huge, but my sister and her husband had the regular room and... More

I've stayed at this hotel many times, from it's origin as the Cooper Square Hotel to the current day Standard. I'm excited by the changes being done. This hotel has always been about intimate spaces and great service, and that hasn't changed. Public spaces are still cozy yet open, in keeping with the more theatrical Standard. Already the tone of... More

Hotel was much better before it changed ownership. It had personal service and that quintessential boutique feeling. The Standard filtered out amenities and made it less personable. Some of the staff was kept over which made it a plus. Won't be disappointed unless you remember when it was the Cooper Square hotel. Location is excellent and central to anywhere. Would... More
