This hostel had a lot of great things, but also some real down points for me. I'll start with the good! Free breakfast - amazing, varied, well stocked, and tasty. Free dinner on a Tuesday, which we were there to enjoy. Friendly and helpful staff. Discounts on local attractions, we got a discount on zoo tickets. The location was really... More

Wow, great place to stay AND eat. I was made to feel at home. The waffles I enjoyed that particular morning made me feel like I was at home (thanks Jackie). More

This is a sunny, spacious hostel with loads of character and friendly, helpful staff. It's well located, clean as a whistle and has great facilities; a fantastic big kitchen and comfortable common areas. There are shared meals and pub crawls and other activities which are great for getting to know your fellow travellers... all in all, the perfect hostel! More

Ive been to over a 100 different hostels in my life. All in the USA to include Hawaii. First impression I got was how well the Hostel was planned out. Common room separate from where people are sleeping. The kitchen is amazing. I had only planned to stay here a few days. But kept extending my stay, for many reasons.... More

I stayed here in August 2011 and am about to head back to stay for a night before heading to Coachella. It was the best hostel I stayed in on my trip around the west coast, The staff made it really amazing because they would go out of their way to help you, When I got stuck because I didn't... More

Pros: - located in the heart of the Gaslamp district, great for restaurants, bars, shopping - cool artwork done by people who have passed through over the years, with some very insightful and thought provoking quotes along the stairway that have stayed with me. I felt like that's what made this hostel stand out amongst all the hostels I've stayed... More

I stayed at Lucky D's for 8 days and I had a lot of fun everyday. The staff is really nice, the hostel is clean, the beds are great and it is located in a good spot- you can walk almost everywhere!! They have a nice common room where you can spend some time and meet other people from the... More

Lots of character, very clean, very nice staff and a good spot in San Diego. I felt very safe, there were lockers in the room, wasn't too noisy at night (keep in mind though I stayed here in Feb and I think the place was just a little quieter than it might be at other times), common room with huge...
