I stayed at the William Penn for a weekend business trip, and my experience here was better than I had ever thought it would be. The room was beautiful, the staff was friendly and accommodating, the hotel has free wireless internet, and it's in the heart of the Gaslamp, so there is tons of activity (i.e. nightlife) within walking distance.... more

4 of us stayed here and it was really great. The rooms were huge, so even though we had a 1 bedroom with a fold-out bed for the other 2, the second bed was actually a murphy bed and we were able to turn the furniture around so we had a sitting area separate from the living room. Visited San Diego on a business trip stumbled on this hotel. The hotel is in a great location right in the middle of the Gaslamp. I enjoyed the large comfy space much bigger rooms than most. I would say the only drawback to the hotel is the parking. The parking is three blocks with no valet service other than that... more

My friends and I went there for a girls weekend and had a blast. Loved the inside of the place, and anything you could want to do is within walking distance. Everything went smoothly with making the reservations and picking up the key. I would recommend this place to anyone. more

The William Penn Hotel was a wonderful place to stay. The condo was very large and decorated nicely. Accommodations were all booked for a recent convention so was glad to come across San Diego Urban Retreats as an alternative. You do have to stop in at the rental company at a different site, close to the airport, to check in and get keys. A one-bedroom apartment was a nice alternative and a great value.
