The bedspreads are polyester and the baths could do with a re-model. Forget about the "wireless" Internet. The host was rather cross that we even asked about it. But overall everything was clean, the breakfast was very good, the location is great, and I would return, just not expecting any kind of luxury experience. The TVs are tiny but that's... more

We stayed here as part of a two-week road trip around the country and found it a lovely home with nice common areas. My wife is a tall woman and liked that the shower head was nice and high, which can be hard to find in old homes. We arrived later than expected due to highway construction (around 9pm) and... more

As past B&B owners and frequent B&B guests, we speak with some credibility. The Babcock House was just fine. Grounds were well kept. Room was not luxurious but clean and comfortable. Bathroom was all that we could want--clean and well maintained. The dinner and breakfast were great. Hostes was friendly and professional. And the train was a distant rumble a... more

Had a great one night stay as a first time visitor as I traveled through Appomattox. First impression was the very well maintained grounds. Then, a very personal welcome and greeting from Shiela as she walked me to the room. Very nice appointments in the common areas that promoted the historical significance of the area. Extremely pleasant and peaceful envoronment.... more

Great B&B with lots of Old Southern Charm. Rooms were exceptionally clean, cozy and comfortable with oversize, high, four poster beds, soft / cushy sheets and comforters and the worlds plushest towels. The suite we stayed in also had a large cozy sitting room with an over stuffed couch and chairs and a fireplace and proved to be a great... more

My daughter and I traveled to VA to attend her graduation from Liberty U. We booked our stay for 3 nights. I can't understand why none of the reviews (maybe I didn't read them all) mentioned the fact that this B & B is a few yards from a very active train track! Unless maybe they are heavy sleepers or... more

Babcock House B&B should serve as a "how to" guide for running a successful bed and breakfast inn. The entire experience, from accommodations and environs to food and hospitality, was 5-star! Babcock House, built in 1884, sits in the tiny Virginia town of Appomattox (pop. ~1800). The town itself is very laid back, with a "downtown" consisting of about 2... more

An outstanding B&B - charming, fully restored and functional 19th century building, gracious accomodations, VERY clean, private bathrooms with each room, excellent meals, gracious, engaging, and responsive host and hostess. Sheila and Jerry Palamar were very helpful accomodating our requests. We hope to revisit . more

Booked a room 1-1/2 months ahead for busy weekend. Turns out that the room was already reserved 6 months ahead but innkeeper had lost/misplaced original reservation. Was notified about one week ahead of time after party with original reservation called to confirm. Mistakes happen, but what concerned me more was that I was told I had booked for only one... more

My husband and I just returned from another wonderful stay at the Babcock House. My husband is originally from Appomattox and we visit a few times a year and the Babcock House has become our home in Appomattox. We wouldn't stay anywhere else. The home is decorated beautifully, kept immaculate and the inn keeper, Sheila, is delightful. The rooms are... more
