Loved our stay of 3 nights last week. We had booked 2rooms and after a little confusion with the booking everything was soon sorted by the wonderful Angel. He went out of his way to smooth things out and made sure we were completely happy. We were!! Loved the trendy rooms, the cocktail bar (fab drinks menu) and the live... More

CONS: I booked this hotel for the complimentary breakfast but was very disappointed. They say it runs until 10AM, but we got there at 9:30 and EVERYTHING was gone. Admittedly, they have a decent spread earlier, but it runs out quickly and they replenish things SLOWLY. It's best to get there between 8:30-9:00AM. (We were awakened to the 6AM garbage... More

What a wonderful boutique hotel. What a wonderful hotel (period) for that matter. Accommodations were great. Exceptional restaurant and bar. But most importantly; an absolute top notch staff that is willing to go out of their way at the drop of a hat to service guest needs. Every hotel has its pros and cons. None are perfect and none satisfy... More

This is an old hotel that has been recently renovated. Pros: Free WiFi & Breakfast, Comfortable bed in "Suite" room, Restaurant & Bar pretty good. Cons: Very noisy on Sutter Street side of the hotel, No A/C, No dresser for clothes, No long mirrors, No shelves in the bathroom, Mold in the shower & carpets were not vacuumed daily. No... More

booked a stay at this hotel as a birthday surprise for my honey. I spent days researching hotels near union square, and walking distance to AT&T park, since we were going to a Giants game. I decided on The Mystic because I thought it was cool, urban and hip as opposed to the more dated surrounding hotels. Despite all the... More

Very good location a block from Union Square... Hip rooms... Although no view and very slow with only one elevator but pretty good value given the location at under $200 for a nice sized, modern cool room. Here for one night so certainly a good choice among the many and varied boutique hotels in the area.

Spent five nights here--originally picking it for location, but was pleasantly surprised. Rooms are small but very clean and nicely furnished. Bathroom was large. Much of decor is white-on-white with a splash of red. Continental breakfast is included and useful if you're on-the-go. The bar is very atmospheric with great, if a little pricey, cocktails. Front desk staff are helpful... More

I have just returned from a 1 night stay at the Mystic. The hotel is in a great location and offers in and out parking for $35 which is a great deal in this area. It included a nice continental breakfast. We had a small room and it seemed unique and charming.

While, yes, I had to take the stairs once during my stay due to elevator maintenance and while, yes, there was plastic on the floor where there was construction taking place, these things did not in anyway detract from my enjoyable stay. The room was small, but I had everything I needed: internet access, decent television, a clean space, a... More

For Stairmaster enthusiasts, this hotel is just the place. The single elevator simply needs a nice place to retire in dignity; it rarely makes it to the 8th floor. And my room the first night was right on the street, where a busy bus route competes with pre-dawn garbage trucks for noise. The continental breakfast is classy - the one... More

Mystic Hotel Union Square San Francisco by Charlie Palmer is a smart, sleek retreat situated in the heart of the city's busiest neighborhoods. Conveniently located just one block from the iconic cable car line in the middle of three key destinations – Union Square, Chinatown and the Financial District — Mystic Hotel offers a convenient, comfortable and unique modern boutique hotel experience in a historic location. With a contemporary look and feel, our accommodations are designed to reflect the changing need of today's traveler. Enjoy high-touch service and an ideal Union Square location, perfect for travelers looking to experience all the adventures of San Francisco. Like a private club, enjoy handcrafted cocktails in the Burritt Room, the intimate film noir-inspired bar named for Burritt Alley, where detective Sam Spade's partner Miles Archer was gunned down in The Maltese Falcon. Then, step into the speakeasy vibe of renowned Chef Charlie Palmer’s adjoining Burritt Tavern, where walled-in and curtained booths create dark corners for private conversations and Executive Chef Ashley Weaver turns out classic food like steaks and chops done right. Weaver also takes advantage of Bay area's tremendous green markets as well as the extraordinary offerings from local food artisans in menus built around prized regional specialties from Dungeness crab to West Coast oysters. That's what we like about San Francisco: it's up to the minute and still in the moment. ... more   less
